Story
Rizzo is a 6 month old rat terrier/chihuahua mix, approx 6 months old weighing 12 lbs. She is a tall beauty with fun puppy energy. Her foster mom is hoping she can be adopted along with her mother since they are very bonded. Cookie is about 6-7 years old, still has a long life to lead since small dogs live a long time and she is in great health and just had her dental cleaning and all her vaccines. Rizzo loves playing with other dogs. Rizzo and Cookie were living with many dog relatives when she was surrendered to us. Because of that, she is a little shy, but friendly. She gets confidence from her other dog friends, so finding a forever home with another dog is very important! Plus they play and keep each other company so a twosome would make a lot of sense. Rizzo is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Dog door trained Does well with other small dogs Older kids would be best Unsure about Cats, but I think she would be ok! If you would like to learn more about Rizzo and schedule a meet and greet, please reach out to Paula @ spwheels1@gmail.com. Adoption fee for the two dogs to cover vet expenses is $500 Link to view Cookie's profile: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/43167168-gilbert-arizona-rat-terrier-mix

Story
Juergens is a very handsome 11-month-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix. If you are looking for a playful and loyal companion, he is the perfect boy for you! He is very smart and curious about the world around him. He would be the perfect companion for someone who is able to give him the time and attention he needs as he continues to grow. While he’s an indoor dog, he also needs a home with a safely fenced yard to run and play in with his family. He is not suited for apartment/condo/mobile home/town home living. If there are children in the home, it’s preferable that they’re over the age of 7 years as they have impulse control. Juergens is neutered, current on his puppy vaccines, including Rabies, dewormed, vet checked, micro chipped, and licensed with Maricopa County. His adoption fee is $460 which helps cover just some of these expenses. Please contact Carrie On Rescue if you have any questions about Juergens or if you would like an application for him at carrieonrescuers@hotmail.com or call them at (480) 603-7680.

Story
Figit, the leggy wonder, strutted into our lives from the Humane Society of Yuma not too long ago. At just 1-1/2 to 2 years old and 21 pounds (mostly legs, mind you!), Figit is a shy gal in need of a patient female-only home. We have found that she is afraid of men and does much better with women. Loud noises? They make her jump like a startled bunny! She walks well on her harness but will get nervous sometimes. For the best pup experience, Figit would prefer a home with older kids if there are kids in the home. She recently spent some time in a foster home and the foster mom said she's a playful and affectionate dog who loved playing with her 3 dogs. She is crated when they left the home, and will also hang out in her kennel if she needs some alone time. She walks well on a leash and is not reactive when she sees other dogs. She can be shy meeting new people but warms up to them nicely. She's enjoying being spoiled by one of our amazing foster homes and will be at the adoption center on Saturdays from 10am-4pm. You may also email Debbie@AzFriends.org to arrange a weekday meeting. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
Meet Swiper – A Loyal, Playful Companion Ready for His New Home! Swiper, a Texas rescue, may be a mix of Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, and Golden Retriever. He’s full of energy and loves fetch with his favorite ball and squeaky hamburger. Cuddly and affectionate, he enjoys being scratched on his back legs and thrives on attention. Swiper’s incredibly smart, learning commands like “sit,” “down,” and “go find your toys.” While raised with another dog, he’s recently developed some protective tendencies, especially around food or when receiving affection. Due to this, we believe he’d do best in a home as the only dog, with someone who’s active, patient, and experienced with handling dogs with behavioral challenges. Swiper is great with kids and kittens, but not smaller dogs. He’s loyal, loving, and needs a dedicated home where he can be the center of attention.
