Story
My sister who is 67 and lives in Wasilla, AK, recently suffered the passing of her husband and is in hospice end of life care. She is not expected to live beyond the current month. She has a sweet dog, Boo, who needs a home. Boo is 6 years old, a Chihuahua, very friendly and easily acquaints with strangers. I have only seen Boo interact with adults; not children or other pets, so do not know how he would respond. Boo is pee pad trained and has rarely been outside as my sister has been bed and chair bound for his whole life. That said, he would no doubt enjoy the fresh air. He is a loving and doting companion who enjoys car rides, (when his "dad" was alive he went everywhere with him), and watching tv. He just wants to be where his person/people are.

Story
Bandit (A141292) is a 5-year-old Chihuahua x Lab mix who weighed 24.2 pounds on intake! 03/04/26 This social little butterfly is Bandit! Bandit was surrendered to the shelter with little information provided on him. However, it was noted that he could get a little persnickety when his younger brothers, Blanco and Bow, didnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t leave him alone. He was said to generally get along well with the other dogs in the home, but he also appreciates his personal space. It is important that introductions to new animals be slow, safe, and controlled, and that Bandit also has a place where he can feel secure in his new home. We do not know if this pup has experience with children, so please ensure you are watching interactions and making proper introductions. We do not know if Bandit has any basic training or if he is fully housebroken. He is looking for a patient owner who will have the time and energy to work with him and help him succeed. If you are interested in meeting Bandit, please let us know! March 10, 2026, 4:01 pm

Story
Bow (A141293) is an 11-month-old Chihuahua x Lab mix who weighed 23.16 pounds! 03/04/26 These cute brothers are Bow and Blanco! They were surrendered to the shelter and are looking for their new homes. Unfortunately, we did not receive any behavioral information about how they were in a home setting. Arriving at the shelter was believed to be their first outing on a leash. They were a bit skeptical but figured it out! While at the shelter, they have had accidents in their enclosure and have also gone potty outside. They may need reminders as they settle into their homes. We also encourage their next owners to bring them to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on their manners and learn a trick or two. Itâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s also a great environment for positive socialization! We do not believe these pups have met many people outside their home, so they are looking for homes that can help them continue to build their confidence. If you have small children in your home, this is also something to keep in mind. While at the shelter, we have found that Bow is quite the talker and has a loud but squeaky bark. If you live in an apartment or have close neighbors, this is something to be mindful of. Bow and Blanco are sweet boys looking for their fresh starts. If you are interested in meeting either of these brothers, please let us know! March 10, 2026, 4:01 pm

Story
Georgia and her son Pinot are a sweet Chihuahua‑mix pair who share a vstrong bond. Georgia is a petite senior lady with a calm, soulful presence, while Pinot, around 7 years old, brings a little extra sparkle and playfulness to the partnership. They’ve spent their whole lives together, and they’re hoping their next chapter can be shared, too. They’re looking for a peaceful home where they can stay together, enjoy gentle routines, and be loved for exactly who they are. A patient adopter who appreciates the sweetness of senior dogs—and the joy of keeping a family intact—would be perfect for them. Friends of Pets will provide sanctuary support as needed for Georgia.
