Story
Meet Skipper! ❤️ Skipper is (estimated at 9 years young) an auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a whoot. 😂 As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! 🐾 Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience. When they are together, if they see other fur babies they get really excited and like to bark. Which is probably, how they survived on their own for so long as a way to protect themselves being so small and older. Even though Skipper eventually warms up to new dogs, it takes a while, and he would probably be happiness as an only dog in his next home. Skipper is very much loved in his foster home. Thus, only the most perfect of home him will he grace. 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Meet Cooper! But you can call him “Mini Cooper,” because this full-grown chihuahua mix weighs a measly 10 pounds. He’s a tiny little fella with lots of love to give!  Cooper was found running around at an abandoned business by his now-foster mom. He ran right up to her and has been enjoying the good life ever since in a home with other dogs and kids.  Cooper is the sweetest little guy. He loves to snuggle and sit on laps. When he’s not with his humans, you’ll find him running around outside with the big dogs in his foster home. For such a tiny little dog, he’s got a lot of confidence around dogs of all sizes. He’s also good with cats! Cooper loves treats and walks. He’s looking for a forever home with some excitement! Maybe some small kids to love on him, or another dog who wants to run around with him, or parents who want to take him on all their adventures. This Mini Cooper is ready to go places and do things with his new family! Story
Silly is a Chiweenie that came from a severe hoarding situation. Poor Silly didn't even have a name until we rescued him and one of our teenage volunteers gave him his name, Silly loves to play and be loved on. Silly can be reactive if not given time to adjust to new people. For that reason we are saying he needs to go to an experienced home where he can learn and thrive. Silly is really good with teenagers but has never met a small child. Silly is good with dogs as long as they don't come on with aggression. Silly is UTD on shots and is neutered. With time, love and some patience, Silly will be a wonderful addition to any family. If you would like to know more about this little guy, please email us and we will send you an application. Thanks for choosing rescue! 2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 Non-profit rescue organization. All of our animals come fully vetted which includes vaccinations, spay/neuter as well as Heartworm and flea/tick prevention. We can also arrange transportation to your location within 500 miles of our sanctuary in Hayden, Alabama if necessary. The additional charge of $35 (health certificate required for out of state travel) plus a .50 cents per mile charge to your location. This will be calculated on an individual basis should you need this option and you will be given the total prior to finalization of the adoption process. There is a Non-Refundable $100.00 deposit that will be required in order to secure a place on a transport. The $100.00 deposit will be deducted from the balance owed at the time of the adoption. Deposits and fees can be paid via PayPal, Venmo, or Cash. All balances must be paid in full at the time of the dog's arrival to you. We look forward to helping you find your family's new Baby! Please email Sandra at sshaffer01@bellsouth.net or Cindy at rysha2071@gmail.com with any questions or to request an application Thanks for adopting a rescue!

Story
Wayne is a super sweet little man. He is a little excited and anxious at first meeting new people due to his past trauma but once he gets to know you he is quite the love bug. He also came from the hoarder rescue but has made a beautiful recovery. Wayne is VERY bonded to Larry so they would make a perfect pair for someone who wants two babies that already love each other.

Larry is a chihuahua/dachshund mix that was rescued from a hoarding situation. Larry is what we call a velcro dog. He wants to be with his person all the time. Larry loves to ride in a car and go to places like Tractor Supply and the local pet store. He is sweet as can be. So far he has gotten along with whatever we put in front of him. He is crate trained. Loves toys and walks on a leash pretty good. He VERY bonded to Wayne and they would make aa great pair for someone who wants 2 lap babies.

Story
I like napping with other doggies, sniffing adventures in the yard, and getting "good girl" treats and cheese. I'd be the ideal little gal pal for a quiet home with those retired or who works from home. As a sensitive, but very sweet girl, I ask for time to warm up, but with a gentle touch, and some one on one time, my personality will shine. Then it's a wrap! I'll have your heart and you'll have mine. Est. birthdate is 8/3/2015, 11.8 lbs., my $200.00 adoption fee includes vaccines up to date, spay and microchip. If you could use a sweet friend to go through life with, I'd love to hear from you!
