Story
Meet Mazzy! Age: Adult Breed: Labrador Good with: kids and dogs Housebroken: Yes Special needs: Calmer home/dogs due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Hey everybody, my name is Mazzy, and I'm the most special gal! I'm a young adult now, and I've found myself looking for my forever home. You might notice that I have a lot of extra skin, and that makes me extra beautiful! It also might add a pound or two to my 42-pound frame because pictures make me look a little lighter than I actually am. Let me tell you, that extra skin is a bit more susceptible to scratches compared to a normal dog's skin because I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Luckily, it doesn’t affect my joints, and I have no need for special medicines – or special food either. I just need to make sure I don't play too rough with my fur friends, that's all! I get along well with other dogs of all sizes, but the calmer, the better, so they don't jump on me or scratch me. I do fabulously with children of all ages, and really enjoy being around them! I learned to trust and love most all humans really, but big crowds and busy new places can be overstimulating for me. I like to alert you to any strange noises I hear or of new people coming into the home, so I might not do super great with living in an apartment building where there might be a lot of extra noise. I’m really good at going potty outside – and have learned to let you know I need to go by standing near the door and giving a little whine. I love going on walks, and I do quite well, though why do some of those trucks need to be so big and loud? I'm not sure how well I would do with kitties. Foster mom says I'm so, so smart and love to learn. I also love car rides and my toys - I can keep myself entertained! I promise to make you laugh with my silly antics and zoomies I get. Now I'm ready for my ride-or-die bestie to play by day and snuggle by night with! *Mazzy is being fostered in Edgerton, WI. Story
Meet Dolly! Age: Adult Breed: Lab mix Weight: 60 lbs Good with: Kids, dogs, cats House trained: Work in progress Crate trained: No, but not needed Special needs: Epilepsy, needs a tall fenced in yard Dolly is a sweet and lovable adult Lab mix who just loves to be with her people. In addition to adults, Dolly loves kids, dogs, and cats. In her foster home, she thinks the horse is pretty neat but is unsure of those not-dogs with spears on their heads (we call them goats, Dolly) This affectionate pup loves to play with the family and pets in her foster home, but is happiest when she’s cuddling. Dolly has really blossomed in her foster home, becoming playful and learning the joys of being a treasured pet. She would love a person who is home often as she loves to stay close to her people. While Dolly is learning about how great it is to be an Albert’s dog, she certainly had a rough start in life. Dolly was bounced around quite a bit and is looking for some consistency in her life to continue to improve her house manners and potty skills. She is a quick learner and eager to please (plus very food motivated)!, so additional training sessions would only continue to build her confidence. Dolly is considered a special needs pup due to her epilepsy, though this is very well managed with pills she takes twice a day and does not affect her quality of life (of dampen her mood). Dolly will require a patient home who can help her overcome some hurdles. She exhibits separation anxiety when left alone and would not do well in a condo/apartment setting. Dolly needs a fenced in yard to get her energy out and to keep her safe while she zoomies! Potty skills have been tough for Dolly, so she needs someone understanding to continue her training. A home without carpeting would be best as she wears diapers inside (a side effect of her medication is frequent potty urges). Dolly is just a happy love bug. She walks well on leash and has excellent recall. She has a great energy level, always up to walk or play, but happy to cuddle. Don’t try to tell her she isn’t a lap dog, she just won’t believe you 🙂 She loves to snuggle up to her fosters at night and is certainly dreaming of a home of her own. She’s been waiting for her forever family to find her, could that be you? Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.
