Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/14187Name: SadieGender: FemaleBreed: Lab MixAge: 2 Years oldWeight: 50 lbsCurrent Location: Alexandria, VAABOUT SADIEMeet Sadie, a lab mix with a big smile and an gleaming coat that catches the light to show off her many shades from honey to chestnut. PERSONALITYSadie is a good-natured and friendly girl. She loves running around and exploring the outdoors. Her playful nature extends to her love of water. With a kiddie pool, Sadie is one happy pup! Sadie is a also a good listener and very smart.COMPANIONSHIPSadie’s foster mom reports that Sadie likes to be near her humans all the time, following them from room to room to keep an eye on everyone. Sadie is a great housemate and will sit quietly on her pet bed or on the floor next to you. Call her name and she’ll join you on the couch for a cuddle and a belly rub. TRAINING AND SKILLSSadie potty trained and does great with a specific routine for going outside. She is also a good girl in her crate. She will sleep quietly through the night in her crate and doesn’t make a fuss about staying in her crate during the day, when no people are the house. She even eats all her meals in the crate. Sadie has good leash manners as well. She doesn’t pull much and stays with her person and nicely follows their lead. She gets excited when she spots another dog or person so she may pull a bit in those situations. But her foster mom says she just needs to shorten Sadie’s leash a bit and let Sadie know to keep walking, and she does so without barking. Sadie is great about coming when called and is very eager to please. She is working on getting used to new dogs in her own home, and does best when allowed to be introduced to them slowly. Following this pattern, Sadie is now very friendly with her foster siblings. Sadie’s foster mom has not seen Sadie interact with cats or children so she isn’t sure how Sadie feels about those critters. LOVE AND AFFECTIONSadie is a very sweet cuddle bug and wants to join you on the sofa. She loves pets and wants to be with her person to devote all her love and loyalty. TRAITS AND IDEAL HOMESadie's ideal home would be one where she has companionship. She would do well as an only dog, or, with multi dog household, she would do best with an experienced, patient owner, who can slowly introduce the pups to each other. Sadie needs regular exercise in a yard or someone who can take her on long walks.Looking for a sweet and loving girl who is equal parts cuddle bug and play buddy? Come and meet Sadie!
