This Lab/Retriever, Terrier Pit mix is Ria. She was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 2/9. Ria weighs 45 pounds, is about 1 1/2 years old and is spayed. As she walked past several kennels, she sniffed at the dogs as though she wanted to be friends. She spent quite a bit of time in the yard and thoroughly enjoyed herself wandering about, with her nose in the air, sniffing out all the interesting scents and looking out into the parking lot activity. Ria is calm and gentle and has a low-key personality. She is friendly once she feels comfortable with a new friend and will warm up. She is OK with loving attention and allowed me to pet her. I even got a few kisses. In the time I spent with her, she has already found a place in my heart. She wants more than anything to get out of a city shelter with dogs barking and confined to a kennel to living as an inside dog with a soft doggie bed, good food and snacks and plenty of TLC from her new people.

Tommy doesn’t know whether to burn off his fun-loving energy or sit by you to receive affection. When he got out in the yard he did zoomies …sometimes running in tight circles! Tommy will keep you on your toes but at the same time give you something to smile about! His happiness is contagious! Tommy is a 2 year old 55 pound neutered male Lab/Retriever/American terrier pit that arrived at the Mesquite Animal shelter on 3/5 as a stray. Tommy loves toys and will entertain himself with them. At the same time, he also loves people and loves giving and receiving attention. As rambunctious as he is, he’s also gentle. He doesn’t jump on you. He wants to please. He’s very friendly and affectionate. He walks OK on a leash. And yes, he will need a lot of space to burn off his excess energy along with a human playmate. After playtime comes snuggle on the couch time.

This exceptional puppy deserves an exceptional adoptive family! Velcro is an 11 month old 42 pound neutered male shiny black Lab Retriever/Chesapeake Retriever mix that was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/13 as a stray. He still has some growing to do to grow into his paws. This exuberant, happy boy is very social. He doesn’t appear to meet a stranger. He loves human contact in the form of petting and ear scratches. He wiggles and wags constantly. He jumps on you occasionally out of pure joy. He sits for treats, but then gets so excited doesn’t stay in that position long. He is outgoing, friendly, sweet, playful, and very affectionate. He did his business in the yard, and it appeared like he had saved it so he MAY be housebroken. He walked OK on a leash. Besides that he’s a very attractive pup! A walk and play time would be right up his alley followed by snuggle time in the comfort of his new home!
