Story
Sam has been with the shelter since 2022. During this time Sam has really shown us his personality, and how much he loves his toys. He will happily spend his mornings showing the kennel staff all the toys he was giving the day before, and the stuffed animals seem to really be his favorites. His volunteer friends tell us that Sam is a little shy when he is first meeting new people, but once you take the chance to get to know him, he really shines. Besides his plushies, his favorite activities are playing fetch in the yard and going for long walks. If you are looking for a great playmate for yourself, Sam might fit well into your life! Behavioral Evaluation: Yellow/Blue—14+ Kids, Dog Selective (Multiple Meets), Flight RiskSam is very outgoing once he gets comfortable, he just doesn’t always introduce well to new people, so you may need to go slow to begin with. He likes toys, particularly tennis balls, and is an all-around fun guy. Sam is one that you will want to watch as he seems to be a bit of an escape artist. For more resources to help with at any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDTBureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617

Story
Yellow—14+ Kid by Kid, Dog by DogYzma is a lovely girl but can be quite nervous during first encounters. It`s essential to slow down and take your time with her. Allow her to investigate you at her own pace until she feels safe and recognizes that you are not a threat. Once she establishes trust, she opens up and becomes playful. Yzma does exceptionally well on a leash; when she feels slight pressure, she relaxes the leash. At first, she may be nervous about handling, but once she realizes you`re petting her, she relaxes and becomes more engaged. Although she doesn`t seem to know how to play with toys, she prefers more interaction with her handler. After she recognizes you as trustworthy, she enjoys putting her paws on you and playfully running around with her little rear tucked in, almost as if she`s doing a playful run. She likes to chase you and enjoys being chased in return. Notably, she does not exhibit any resource-guarding tendencies.During stranger introductions, Yzma initially appears fearful and may try to hide behind her handler. However, when coaxed to sniff and say hello, she reluctantly approaches, sniffs, and then backs away. She seems less comfortable around male strangers. When introduced to another dog, Yzma behaves beautifully. Although she is cautious, she is also curious and approaches appropriately. She interacts in a more tolerant, investigative manner but eventually loosens up and even tries to engage in play.Yzma also knew a few behavior cues, such as Sit, Down, Shake, Stay, and Come! Yzma was nervous around all the objects that we tested her with. I believe she is under-socialized.For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDTBureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617

Story
Jackson was about 4 weeks old, covered with mange (never lost his fur) & filled with worms. For 3 months he lived in our shower without crying or barking! He’s able to sense people’s & other animal’s true nature. My senses are not as good as his. I let him go to the wrong person. Our landlord’s daughter had him 6 months & he was mishandled & starved while hunting & eating rabbits. He sought us out and we rescued him a second time. The girl who had him tried to get him back & he refused to let her near him. When she did get a hold of him he refused her efforts to love on him, put him in her truck or have anything at all to do with her. Jackson showed her how he felt. He never growled or snarled or threatened her in any way. Unfortunately we had to move again and we’re not allowed to keep him. Jackson is now 2 yrs old. Please give him a chance to use his inbred abilities to win your heart! He is the sweetest and most loving dog we’ve ever had!!!
