Story
(DOB 11/20/2024) Due to Penny’s young age, she has not yet been spayed. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  Did you say retriever??? Are you ready to meet the most energetic, lovable, and slightly goofy puppy on the block? Well, here comes Penny Princess, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever with a personality as big as her dreams! Penny is ready to find her forever home, and she's looking for an active family with another wonderful, playful or spunky dog who can keep up with her playful spirit! She has that beautiful copper penny coat, little waves in her hair and little webbie-like feet. Penny is still a puppy, which means she’s full of energy, curiosity, and the occasional puppy mischief. This girl is super smart, always eager to please, and has enough energy to power a small city. She’d love a family who knows how to channel her energy into fun activities and lots of playtime. Structured positive reinforcement training puppy classes and socialization would be fantastic for her and her human. Penny needs an active family who can keep up with her playful nature and give her the attention and training she deserves. She’d do well with experienced dog owners who are ready to guide her through the puppy stage and provide lots of opportunities for fun and learning. Penny most definitely wants a fenced in yard for all of her energy and to play with her other doggie friends and her family members. No fence - no go!! While she’s not fully potty trained yet, she can make it through the night in her crate without any accidents – go Penny! Reminder, Penny is still a puppy and going through teething and bite inhibition stages, so she still nippy and mouthy and this is all totally normal. Her family will need to monitor and ensure plenty of proper toys, teething items and redirection. Patience is key with puppies! When she’s not in full zoomie mode, Penny loves to cuddle up and snuggle with her people. She might just flop down next to you for a nap after burning off all that puppy energy! Penny Princess is an energetic, fun-loving puppy with a heart full of love and excitement. She’s ready to find a family who can keep up with her and shower her with affection. If you’re ready for some puppy antics, plenty of playtime, and a lifetime of adventures, Penny is the girl for you! Let’s go, Penny – your new family is waiting for you! As with most young puppies, Penny is good with other dogs, kids (older and appropriate understanding of how to behave around puppies) as well as dog-savvy cats. Win, win, win! As part of Penny’s $325 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Penny, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2318770##

Story
Hi, I’m Sonia, a charming and affectionate four-year-old girl born on Valentine’s Day! With a sleek black coat and a striking white blaze on my chest, I’m smart, eager to please, and highly motivated by food and praise, making training enjoyable for me. My favorite activities include exploring the woods, running off energy, and then napping. I also love treats and toys, and I’m generally easy to please. At home, I’m calm, quiet, and well-behaved, often napping or watching for squirrels from the sofa. While I may bark at strangers and can be anxious around some people, I warm up quickly and show my affectionate side. I’m known to be “dog-reactive,” meaning I’m not the best with other dogs, but I do have a couple of canine friends. Cats are not a good match for me, as I prefer to steer clear of them. I’m looking for a loving and stable home that can provide attention and training to build my confidence. I promise to share my love and enjoy soft ear rubs. Could you be my forever family?

Story
Hi there, my name is Babi! I am a friendly and affectionate older gal who loves attention! I would be best in a home with no cats, and I will need slow/monitored introductions to any new people or other pets in the home. Insights from my adventure buddies:`Babi was the absolute sweetest! She was potty trained and did well on walks. When seeing other dogs she did not react much, but this was from afar. She was a couch potato and loved to give cuddles. She loved to go on walks and did an amazing job in her new environment. She is super low maintenance and would be a great addition to someone`s home! She does have some slight separation anxiety, but nothing that wouldn`t go away with time and a little training!``Babi was such a sweet girl. Super chill and so well behaved. She seems potty trained, was excited to go on walks and be in the car and loved a pup cup. She loved sitting in the apartment, never barked, and was soooo cute and sweet! We loved her and hope she finds a great home ASAP.``Babi is really a perfect dog. We had such a fun day with her. Although she is a bit on the older side, she had no shortage of energy. We started the day with a run on the Bolin Creek trail which she did great on. She didn`t pull on the leash or stop too much and can match speed really well. She was a little bit reactive towards other dogs (barking and pulling towards them) but was fine other than that, and that was her only flaw. After our walk, we had tons of cuddle and play time inside and she did great. She seems housetrained and goes to the door when she needs to go outside. She loves to play and is also one of the best cuddlers ever. She is so sweet and will
