Story
Meet Palmer, a delightful 2-year-old shelter dog whose joy is infectious. As you approach him, his tail wags with excitement, and his eyes light up with happiness. Palmer greets you with gentle enthusiasm, refraining from jumping and instead expressing his affection in a calm manner. On a leash, he walks with grace, enjoying the outdoor surroundings as he explores and sniffs with curiosity. Palmer's mellow and calm temperament shines through, making him an ideal companion. He has mastered the art of sitting and delights in catching treats, showcasing his intelligence and eagerness to please. Recently tested with other dogs, Palmer would likely do better with a female. His go-to move was humping, so an older dog may not be tolerant of his playstyle. Palmer is not just a dog; he's a loving and well-behaved friend ready to bring joy and companionship into your life.He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have cats or dogs in the home, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. ". Story
Hello all! This is Doge and he came to us when his previous owners could no longer care for him. Doge is a large sized dog who is looking for a new forever family with an active lifestyle, as he has lots of big boy energy and is very adventurous! Having proper outlets for Doge`s energetic lifestyle is essential. Doge has had a hard time making new dog friends in the past and tends to resource guard his items. Due to this, Doge will need to have slow and monitored introductions with other dogs in the home over a period of time and we recommend feeding him in a crate or a safe space by himself, to lessen his need to guard the food, until proper training has been established. We do not know how Doge is with cats or children, and therefore we recommend slow and monitored introductions with them as well.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PLEASE NOTE: If you are on PetFinder or other search site, you do NOT need to introduce yourself.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.    FOSTER COMMENTS: Jack is a handsome guy with a shiny coat and the cutest curved tail. In April, he turned 2 years old.  He is a Labrador Retriever mix who is fully grown and weighs 35 lbs. He is an affectionate dog that loves his people and stuffed animals.  Jack is initially timid with strangers but warms up quickly and is so friendly.  He loves other dogs and wants to play!  He is high energy so the other dog has to be able to deal with that.  He is very interested in cats and wants to play so he is best in a home without cats.  His energy level is alot for young children so he is best in a home with older children.   Jack is not a vocal dog but is excitable when he wants to go outside or be fed and will then bark loudly.  Jack is totally housebroken and crate trained.  He is in his crate when I am not home to supervise and at night to sleep.  He goes in his crate easily and I give him a treat each time he goes in. Jack loves other dogs but I think he would be fine as the only dog in the house.  He loves his people and all their attention. He will greet you with a doggie wiggle butt!   Jack would love a fenced yard to get out his energy, but he does fine on a leash if his adopter can make the commitment to walk him several times a day. Warm up your arm because Jack loves to retrieve a ball!  He loves his soft stuffed toys and will carry them around but will chew the stuffing out if not supervised, he's very "puppy" like.  Jack would be a great family dog, he's a great size, in excellent health and very affectionate.  He learns easily because he is treat motivated. He is ready for his forever home.  Could Jack be a new member of your family?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JACK? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All Best Friend Pet Adoption dogs require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application. The link to our application is    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.    It can also be found at bfpa.org.    FOSTER COMMENTS: Kala is such a sweet puppy who was born on 6/1/24.  She is a cuddly, friendly puppy.  Her momma, Tiki, is a 3 year old 30 lb rat terrier mix. We feel that Kala will be larger and probably at least 50 lbs when full grown.  Her Dad may have been a lab?    Kala is crate trained and stays in her crate overnight and when we leave the house without any issues.  She is a typical puppy learning lots of new skills.  We are working on potty training and she seems to be learning quickly. She has patterns of behavior that indicate she needs to go out so we are confident she can be housebroken with relative ease.     We have a fenced backyard so we have not started training her on a leash.  I think Kala would be fine with either multiple walks or just playing in a yard in her forever home.   Kala is very friendly with everyone she meets, young and old.   She also gets along great with other dogs. She loves to play with our three dogs.  We don’t have a cat so not sure how she would do with one in the house.   I think Kala would be ok living in an apartment as she is quiet and does not bark when left alone.  She would also be ok if her family worked out of the house and she was left alone or with another dog.   Kala is very friendly and loves to play with both dogs and humans of all ages. When she is not being her playful active self, she loves to take naps with you and snuggle. She has been a joy and the other dogs have enjoyed having a new playmate.   Kala is packing up her toys already and is getting ready for her next adventure in life!   If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and sweet companion who's always up for fun, Kala might just be the pup for you! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Kala's  mother (Tiki) was rescued from a shelter and we didn't know she was pregnant. Her foster came home and discovered Tiki had a litter of four sweet girls waiting for her.  What a surprise! Maybe you can open your home for one of these lucky puppies. They love dogs and all people.      Puppies may nibble, bite and mouth so may not be appropriate for very young children unless they have had experience around dogs/puppies.    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.   Applicants for puppies should ideally live 30 minutes from Cary NC (no further than one hour) since Kala must receive medical care in the Cary area. Best Friend Pet Adoption will cover all medical cost for Kala until she is spayed when she is 6 months old.  Kala can start a trial adoption now and the adoption will be finalized after she is spayed.     INTERESTED IN ADOPTING KALA ? Story
Nova is a four year old, energic and playful dog. She loves the outdoors and is very intelligent, she knows many tricks! She was originally from North Carolina and shipped north where I adopted her from a shelter in Rhode Island. Although she has been a wonderful addition to my family and very much adored, recent medical issues have made her care difficult. Presently she lives in a home with a cat, but I believe since she wants to play constantly, a home without one may be best. She loves hikes and has a lot of off-leash training on trails, though she may need some refreshing on this since it's been a few months since I was able to go out. I will include two large crates, a bowl, food, toys, usual medications (heartworm/tic prevention), records, etc. with the adoption. My hope is to have a few meetings before finding her new forever home. I have time and want to find her the perfect place.
