Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:4Meet Diamond, a 2-year-old, 37-pound black lab mix who is ready to sparkle! With her adorable wiggly tail and a heart full of love, Diamond is a total cuddle bug who will quickly become your best friend. She’s a sweet, affectionate girl who loves to be close to her humans, always eager to climb into your lap and shower you with affection. Whether she’s curling up for bedtime (she’d love to snuggle in bed with you!) or settling down in her crate, Diamond was a well-behaved girl in her short-term foster home. She was also potty-trained! She does need continued obedience training and will need to be monitored if there is food on counters (she’s a bit of a sneaky one when it comes to snacks!), Diamond’s affectionate nature and willingness to please make her an ideal companion for a dedicated adopter. While Diamond loves people and is a champion at giving cuddles, she does best in a calm, solo-animal household. A home without young children or cats is ideal. She would be best as the only dog in a home where she can be the center of attention she so deserves! Diamond is highly food-motivated, eager to learn, and enjoys walks—she’s great on a leash and listens well. She’ll alert you to any passing dogs with a bark, but she’s easily redirected and stays calm during walks. She’s also content being left home alone in her crate for a few hours at a time. If you’re looking for a playful, loving, and loyal dog who will be your best friend and cuddle buddy, Diamond is ready to make your house her home!January 26, 2025, 10:47 pm

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Loveseat! This sweet, 68-pound lab mix is a big ball of love and affection – he’s basically a walking hug machine! He loves nothing more than being close to his people. At just a year old, he’s playful but also knows how to melt into you for a cozy cuddle session. Loveseat is easygoing, social, and loves to play gently with other dogs. He’d do well with another dog who matches his medium energy, or as a solo dog with plenty of love and attention. Either way, he’s ready to give you all the cuddles and fun you can handle! Whether it’s fetch, a quick jog, or just snuggling up together, Loveseat’s always up for quality time with his human. This loveable 1-year old is still learning his manners and would thrive with a dog-savvy adopter who can help him work on some training. He’s got a bit of puppy curiosity, but he’s easily redirected, especially when treats are involved! His favorite trick? Giving big, soft hugs. If you’re ready for endless affection, a playful partner, and a dog who wants to be by your side, Loveseat is your guy. He just landed in a foster home and we can't wait to find out more! Story
(born May 2022) I adopted Frankie from a family when she was a year old - she was so calm! She is unfazed by fireworks, sudden noises, or garbage trucks driving by. At the dog park, she loves to run, but, if other dogs start playing too rough, she walks away! She is great with other dogs, my grand kids and strangers, men and women. She loves going to the dog park, is great walking on leash around the neighborhood, and riding in the car. She is a very social dog but I have left her home alone for up to six hours with no problems. (Have I mentioned that she is very smart?) Recently, Frankie started barking at other dogs when both are on leashes; I believe this behavior has more to do with wanting to play than feeling aggressive. Same two dogs off leash and free to play and sniff butts and everything is fine. With a bigger & more active household and more freedom to run and play, this frustration on her leash would fade away. She would love a canine housemate.
