**Meet Rory and Ruger**
Rory and Ruger are a sweet, bonded pair being fostered in the Yorktown, VA area. Rory, a mostly white Cavachon, and Ruger, a Blenheim Cavalier with auburn ears, seek a loving forever home where they can stay together. These two 33-pound pups are neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and have wonderful temperaments that make them ideal companions for the right family.
**Their Personalities:**
- **Affectionate:** Rory and Ruger are loving and cuddly dogs. They adore being with their people, whether it’s lounging on the couch or snuggling in your lap. They often sleep curled up next to each other with their paws crossed over one another—a true testament to their close bond.
- **Well-Behaved:** They are mature dogs without the challenges of puppy behaviors. They’re calm, respectful, and very loving. They don’t beg for food or treats and bark only when necessary, such as needing to go out or alerting to unusual noises.
- **Social:** Rory and Ruger are great around other dogs and people. They do not react to other dogs unless one surprises them near the fence, and they’re polite when meeting new people. They haven’t been around children yet, but they are gentle enough to likely do well with dog-savvy kids.
**Daily Habits and Training:**
- **Potty Habits:** Both dogs are potty trained and need to go out about every 4-5 hours during the day but can hold it overnight. They show clear signals when they need to go potty, such as walking in circles.
- **Feeding:** Rory and Ruger eat well, though Ruger tends to finish faster and may try to sneak some of Rory’s food. Feeding them separately (with bowls a few feet apart) works perfectly. Neither shows food aggression.
- **Commands:** They understand “no” and come when called. While they don’t seem to know many formal commands yet, they are eager to please and respond well to treats. They will even sit for snacks.
- **Leash Walking:** They are doing well with leash training. When walked separately, they walk nicely and enjoy meeting people and other dogs calmly.
- **Crate and Sleep:** Rory and Ruger sleep together on a couch in their foster’s sunroom and settle immediately when the lights go out. They’ve also done well in a large, soft-sided crate when needed.
- **Play:** These two enjoy romping in a fenced yard and exploring side-by-side but aren’t particularly interested in toys or balls. They’d much rather spend time with each other and their humans.
**Home Requirements:**
Rory and Ruger need a home where they can stay together. A fenced yard is a must—Ruger is quite active, quick, and loves to explore, while Rory may wander off if left unsupervised. Their ideal home would include someone who can let them out every 4-5 hours or provide access to a doggy door. They love being near their humans and would thrive in a family where someone is home for much of the day.
**Why They’re Special:**
Rory and Ruger are a loving, well-behaved duo who bring joy wherever they go. They’re bonded in a beautiful way—playing, cuddling, and running side-by-side. They’re gentle, social, and adaptable dogs who are ready to bring their boundless love and companionship to a lucky forever family.
If you’re looking for a pair of mature, happy dogs who will brighten your day with their energy and affection, Rory and Ruger may be the perfect match for you. Don’t miss the chance to give this incredible bonded pair the loving home they deserve!
