Meet handsome Nugget! He is a 3 year old Cavapoo, weighing in at about 25 pounds. Nugget was surrendered from a commercial breeder and was badly matted when rescued. Although he was initially terrified, he soon relaxed after being bathed and trimmed and welcomed into his loving foster home. Over the next days, he learned to trust his foster family, playing with the resident dog, and enjoying good food and yummy treats😊 Nugget has turned into one of the best snugglers. He loves to play, go for walks, and occasionally chew things he shouldn’t. He is great with kids, and other dogs in a small setting. He quickly mastered sit and no, and is still working on some other basic commands, but he is very smart and picks things up quickly. Nugget is still a little skittish at times and often timid when first meeting someone new, which doesn’t last long if they give him treats and pets. He is almost completely potty trained but will have an accident here and there, and of course there may be some regression when moving to his furever home. He is crate trained as well. Nugget will do well in almost any home, but he would benefit from a resident dog who he can continue to learn from. He would love children to play with, and needs adults who will make him feel safe. He is neutered, and up to date on all vaccines and preventatives. Nugget is being fostered in Lancaster, Pa and all potential adopters should be prepared to travel there for the adoption. Meet Taffy - read what her foster mom has to say about her. Introducing Taffy! Taffy is a 6 almost 7 year old King Charles Cavalier, weighing around 20lbs. She came to us after a life of breeding and is being introduced to the good life. Taffy is shy with new people but once acquainted is very sweet and loving. Her favorite thing is getting pets and cuddling up on the couch for a nap. Taffy has had no accidents in the house, and sleeps quietly in her crate overnight and while her foster mom is at work. Taffy is still learning new noises and sounds, and will need a family to help boost her confidence in new environments. Taffy does go out on a leash, but will need training to improve her leash skills. She currently is living in an apartment and has only barked once when she saw sheep on the tv! She is the only pet in the home right now, so it is unsure how she would be with cats or other dogs. She was with other dogs at the breeding kennel she came from and was reportedly good with them. Taffy does have a grade 4 heart murmur which is common for cavalier. Any adopter would have to be prepared to follow up on that if she becomes symptomatic. Taffy is now spayed, had a dental cleaning, is up to date with vaccines and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400.00. Meet Marsha. Marsha is a 6-year-old Female Cavapoo and is a retired breeder dog. She currently weighs 16 lbs. and is fully grown. She has a sweet personality and loves spending time with her humans and will follow them wherever they go. She sleeps well in her crate but does not use it as a safe space. She roams freely during the day and hasn’t attempted to chew on anything. She will go outside to go to the bathroom and comes in when called. At this point she hasn’t had any accidents in the home. She is currently in a home with a fenced in yard, but this is not necessary. Marsha walks well on a leash and stairs are also no issue. She gets along fine with the other dogs in the household, and she would do well with a friendly dog or someone who would spend a great deal of time with her since she has spent her entire life with her sister Millie(who was adopted). Cats are an unknown at this point. Marsha has a grade 3 heart murmur most likely due to breed related mitral valve insufficiency per the vet. She will be having an echo test on 1/29/25 and see a cardiologist to see if medication would be helpful for her. Any adopter would need to be prepared to handle this issue should things change for her heart in the future.She would also be fine with kids. Marsha is spayed, UTD on vaccines and microchipped. My owner took me to the ER where it was determined I had a compound fracture that would require a large surgery and lots of care to which my mom could not do. The only other option was euthanization :( Thankfully someone said to call 2nd Chance and they took me and paid my ER bill and then paid my $6600 surgery and then nursed me through 8 weeks of crate rest. Meet Tanya and Trixie-2 very special bonded sisters, spaniel mixes. They are over five years old, and very sweet natured and pleasant. It takes him some time for them to warm up to people. They’re just very shy and are always extremely cautious when being approached by strangers, not in an aggressive way. They both do have allergies which have been being kept under control and are very good at being groomed. They love stuffy squeaky toys, and chewing on Nyla bones. They enjoy going for walks. They are a bonded pair and must go together. One is spayed. The other needs to be spayed prior to adoption. Adult household preferred.
