You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hello we are 2 fun loving little girls who had to start over.  Our family didn't have a lot of time to spare for us so we were crated a lot.  Our dad decided we deserved better so he brought us to the ranch.  At first we didn't know what was going on but then we made friends with the Director and this place is REALLY cool!!!  We NEVER have to be in a crate and we are never alone!!  There are always plenty of humans around and lots of fur friends and we have this big fenced in field that we LOVE!!!  We like to run and play ALL day!  We don't leave each other so the Director said not to worry she would NEVER split us up and she will make sure we only go to someone with a fenced yard that will enjoy having us running around :)If you think you might be a good fit fill out an application and if we think we should meet you we will be in touch for a 'date' :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Meet Star! Star is a 4 year old "cavapoo who came to us along with 9 other dogs after being surrendered by a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster county. This particular breeder asked us to meet him on the side of the road near his house, where he then directed us to a hidden shed in the middle of a field. In that shed, that appeared to come straight out of a horror movie, was Molly and the other mill mamas looking absolutely terrified and sickly. As expected, all of the mill mamas came to us covered in mats, masses, and in dire need of dental procedures. They have never received any medical care, hygiene, or grooming and therefore have suffered through painful mats pulling on their skin, uncomfortable masses on their body, and extremely painful and inflamed gums for an unknown amount of time. We have gotten them all back up to health and they are all enjoying decompressing in foster homes She will require a family who understands her past, and is patient with her as she transition to living life in a home and around kind people. Our mill mamas are always extremely special, and we promise you there is no love out there that compares to theirs! This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Please apply to be considered at our website www.angelsretreat.org! Star Quick Facts: -She loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with other canine companions -She is still fearful but slowly coming out of her shell! -She has learned to wag her tail and smile

Story
Wally is a 7 year old neutered male cavalier who weighs 19 pounds. He was rescued from living in poor living conditions, where he was skin and bones and in need of emergency dental care. After taking care of his teeth, he continued to lose weight and was diagnosed with EPI. Treatment for EPI in a pancreatic enzyme added to each meal, which he gobbles up. He has already put on some weight and is so much happier! He is so easy for her foster mom. Wally is house trained, crate trained, loves to snuggle on the couch and follows his foster mom everywhere. He seeks out attention and wants nothing more than to be loved. He is fostered with dogs of all sizes and would love a fenced in yard in his forever home. Story
Dior is a 3 month old female cavalier/poodle mix who weighs 8 pounds. She is as cute as they come with her huge puppy eyes and she gives tons of kisses! Due to her small size, we would prefer that she goes to a home without large breed dogs for her safety. She has tested great with other dogs and will need a dedicated family to continue working on training as she grows.
