You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hello we are 2 fun loving little girls who had to start over.  Our family didn't have a lot of time to spare for us so we were crated a lot.  Our dad decided we deserved better so he brought us to the ranch.  At first we didn't know what was going on but then we made friends with the Director and this place is REALLY cool!!!  We NEVER have to be in a crate and we are never alone!!  There are always plenty of humans around and lots of fur friends and we have this big fenced in field that we LOVE!!!  We like to run and play ALL day!  We don't leave each other so the Director said not to worry she would NEVER split us up and she will make sure we only go to someone with a fenced yard that will enjoy having us running around :)If you think you might be a good fit fill out an application and if we think we should meet you we will be in touch for a 'date' :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 2, 2024, 7:55 pm

Story
Meet Lacey! She is a 4-year-old tri-colored King Charles Cavalier, surrendered from a commercial breeder. She is such a beautiful girl, a little shy, but continued love and socialization will help her adjust in her new home! She is being fostered in Kutztown, Pa, and has been enjoying a fully fenced-in yard. With the right family who is willing to put the time into leash training, she will catch on. Lacey is doing well with potty training when taken out regularly. Regression is common in new environments as she is still learning. Lacey gets along with her foster sisters but sneaks in for all the attention. She would likely thrive as an only dog, or maybe with one sibling. She loves attention and treats as rewards. Lacey also loves car rides - she's such a good passenger! Lacey would love a parent who's home a lot. She hasn't been exposed to young children or cat's, but hasn't shown signs that either would be an issue. She is so sweet with such a funny personality and will eventually adapt to any of her surroundings. She sleeps in her foster parent's bed at night and during the day enjoys her comfy bed in the living room. Lacey had x-rays and was diagnosed with grade 1 and grade 1.5 luxating patellas and mild hip dysplasia. Lacey uses dog steps to get up onto high places. She gets around great, but sometimes you will notice her limping and walking funny. There seems to be no pain associated with her ailments, and ultimately, they don't affect her in any way. Lacey is up to date with all her vaccinations and preventatives. She has been spayed and microchipped. She did well at the groomers and will require professional grooming regularly. If you think you would be a great fit for Lacey, please apply!!
