Story
Meet Beatrice!Beatrice is a 10-year-old, 14-pound purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel from Alabama. Despite her challenging past, Beatrice is incredibly sweet, friendly, and curious, with a tail that never stops wagging!
Beatrice was surrendered by a backyard breeder in Alabama, where she endured years of neglect and gave birth to countless litters under poor conditions. Now, she’s ready to spend her golden years in a loving, patient, and cozy home.
Though Beatrice is blind, she navigates her surroundings—both indoors and outdoors—with remarkable ease. She needs a bit of guidance in areas with obstacles like scaffolding, but otherwise walks with enthusiasm. She adores her daily strolls and gets excited as soon as she hears the jingle of her leash!
The best thing about Beatrice? When she catches a whiff of her human, her entire body wiggles in excitement, making her joy absolutely contagious.
Training and BehaviorBeatrice is pee pad trained and is working on house training. Her forever family will need to continue helping her learn and adjust to a new routine, as she likely had little to no formal training before coming into rescue. Accidents may happen as she settles into her new home.
Beatrice has explored busy areas like farmers' markets and taken subway rides in her pet carrier with ease, snoozing contentedly through the hustle and bustle.
She’s friendly with everyone—humans and dogs alike. Beatrice loves being petted by strangers on walks and has the patience of a saint, even with excitable puppies. In her foster home, she happily coexists with the large resident dog.
At home, Beatrice enjoys snuggling, exploring every corner of her foster’s apartment, and eating treats from their hand. She occasionally barks at loud noises, like sirens or clanging dishes, but she has shown no signs of separation anxiety. Though she doesn’t like being confined to a crate, she relaxes in her bed and naps when left alone.
Ideal HomeBeatrice would thrive in almost any home environment, whether with other pets or as the only dog. She’s incredibly adaptable and ready to settle into a quiet, loving household where she can enjoy her retirement years.
Her new family will be rewarded with a gentle, loving companion whose excitement and joy will brighten every day. Beatrice is ready to embrace the good life she’s always deserved.
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
To apply for Beatrice, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
