Story
Hello, my name is Deacon, but I am affectionately known as “Puppy” to my foster family. I am a 5-month-old 11-pound, male, Cavapoo.I have one brilliant blue eye and one blue in the corner and mostly brown eye. My fosters say I am adorable and love me so much, but who doesn’t love a puppy! I was recently neutered and am healing well. I still have most of my puppy teeth and boy are they sharp, although I don’t bite. I do like to play gnaw on hands and fingers, if you let me, to soothe myself and teethe. If you don’t want me to, I am totally ok with that and am easily redirected. I have a mixed personality; I am a little shy and skittish but can also be adventurous. An example is I am still afraid to explore into new rooms inmy foster home, but if I somehow muster up the courage, I might start investigating things, until I see my foster parents checking in on me and then I bolt back to my safe zone on the couch! I think as I continue to gainsecurity and love from my forever family, I will come more out of my shell, but I will likely never be a super brave pup. I love other dogs, but I am small, so a gentle giant or other dog that is not too rambunctious would be best. I also would do fine as an only dog. I do need a fair amount of attention from my people, as I build my confidence and grow up. I am 95% potty trained, and I have never soiled my crate. I sleep in my foster parent’s room at night in my crate. I sleep quietly through the night, but I might whine just a few times when I initially go in but I settle right down. I love my soft puppy chow, mixed with some kibble. I’m not a big fan of dog treats, but I do love cheese!! I like small, soft toys, but I’m not yet a fan of balls or other chew toys. I am learning to walk with a leash andwould do best with a harness vs us pulling at each other on a collar (and my windpipe). I am a dog that requires a lifelong commitment to grooming. I have fuzzy, fluffy fur that is beautiful, but does need regular baths and trims. I don’t have dew claws, which my fosters say is a real plus. I am really a smart dog and have learned to come, when they call, “puppy” and I have learned sit. I would love to go to training with my forever family and learn more of the basics and get more socialized with other dogs. I do live with my 3 foster family dogs now. I am not much of a barker; I think I have only barked a few times in the month with my fosters and go days with no bark at all. I love my fenced yard, it’s so much freedom and offers so much exploration, but a fenced yard wouldn’t be a requirement, if you promise to take me for walks each day. What is most critical is that my forever family really understands my personality and my needs to ensure that we are together for my entire life. This is the job of my foster family and we’re both lucky to have someone to ensure we’re a match. If I sound like the guy you’ve been searching for, please complete an application with as much detail as possible, so my foster parents can get to know you.I can’t wait to have my very own forever family! I will be a really great addition to your life and love you unconditionally. Love, Deacon
If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about The Rescue Crew adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our Adoption Process page on our official website.
All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.
The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown.
