Story
****When responding please tell us about yourself(home, yard, family, fence, work hours, other pets?) or use the application at sparrowdogs.com***** Lil' Miss Lydia came to us on October 31st, yep, a Halloween arrival. We named her after the girl in the movie BeetleJuice, Lydia Dietz. Seemed fitting given the day, and this little furry Lydia was also quite troubled and displaced as well. Lydia had a family, but they took her to a vet clinic to be put to sleep. They said all she did was lay on the bed. Thank goodness for the kind people at the clinic that instead had the family surrender her so she could find a family that would love and care for her. She soon arrived with our rescue. Lydia came in very terrified of everything, especially human contact. She has never been fear aggressive, in face she turns in to a statue when you hold her, she just freezes in fear. But with time, a little bit of meds, and loads of patience and TLC, Lydia is coming out of her shell. Lydia LOVES to the other dogs and spends her days playing and rough housing. She enjoys her soft toys and will carry them around. Funny...all the toys seem to end up in Lydia's favorite napping spot, hmmmm. She has come a long way and she still has a ways to go. But there is so much hope for Lydia. She is a happy bouncy girl, loves being outside, loves her snacks(will follow us around for a treat). But-she still carries that fear of people, she just has not let her guard all the way down. Maybe she never will, maybe with the right gentle family and other dog pals she will learn to relax. Lydia absolutely needs someone that has experience with fearful dogs. It is about winning her trust, letting her feel comfortable before forcing contact. Baby steps really, whatever happened in her life, she needs someone to give her the love she apparently has never had. As adorable as Lydia is, she is NOT the dog for everyone. She is looking for someone kind hearted and patient with the understanding that it will be a little journey with Lydia to help her feel truly safe and loved. We think that with the right home she will progress like so many fearful dogs we have cared for. Lydia will need a secure fenced yard. Another dog in the home is a huge plus. Lydia is about 5 years old, 12 pounds or so. We are not sure of the breed(s), it is a pretty good guess. If interested Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
**ADOPTION PENDING** Taylor (she/her) is an adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is looking for the perfect foster-to-adopt home within driving distance to the Chicagoland area! A foster-to-adopt home would be ideal for Taylor as she needs a spay and dental prior to adoption and would need to be driven to these appointments in the Chicagoland area where our vets are located. This adorable little girl was born on 2/21/2021, and weighs a petite 12.6 lbs. Her coat is red with white. She is friendly but still a little scared as she is still learning about life outside of a puppy mill. Taylor does great with other dogs and older children. She would love a home with a fenced in yard, but she is doing well with leash training. Taylor is also currently working on potty training. She is up to date on shots, de-wormed, micro-chipped and fecal tested negative. We require an adoption application, phone interview, virtual house check, and meet and greet with your entire family. For an adoption application, please visit us at https://www.petprofilerescue.org or at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1S5v9x1oGSYLBSfheZJ_zSvkIHoT3Fe_xnsq5V75IX9w/viewform?fbclid=IwAR0rU1zQezgZhhC_01_JpMFhujOq40cu8Xl4xKdiZ0b1L-3Pwm1Et-XI3K4&edit_requested=true If you have already submitted an application to us, email us at petprofilerescue@gmail.com to express your interest in this dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Tom is a 7-8 month old male Cavapoo who weighs in at 10-12 pounds.  His birthday is June 11, 2024.  This dog's adoption fee is $850.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Tom is shy at first however warms up quickly when given time to adjust. He spent the first part of his life in a cage of a backyard breeder.  ARF rescued him and he is looking forward to the life he deserves!  Tom is a playful puppy and gets along well with dogs of all sizes and temperament. He is  outgoing, friendly and playful - when not snuggling and sleeping right next to you, either in bed or on the couch.  He is beginning to figure out what toys are and learns from what the resident dogs do.   Tom is learning to walk on a leash and is being potty trained.  All Tom needs is a family to love, a family that can be patient and accept him as he is every day, to be his cheerleader and his protector for whatever situation. He is so affectionate.  His ideal home would include a fenced yard (he hasn’t decided if he likes a leash yet.). He would love to have another dog to teach him the ropes of suburban living. He would be good in a home of any size, although a family with toddlers/loud children might be a bit scary for him.  He will do best in a home with another dog or a home that is able to have frequent play dates with other dogs. Tom is looking for a home with lots of love! Tom is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Story
Crib is a 4 year old, 20 pound Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix with big beautiful brown eyes and adorable ears! She is soaking in all the new experiences being in a foster home brings: car rides, baths, treats, and new friends! She follows the resident dog and we think she'd do well with cats. She's shy but curious about meeting new people! Crib is very quiet, and very aware of her surroundings, but she's getting used to the comforts of home like relaxing on a comfy dog bed. Her foster family is helping her learn things like where to go potty and her forever family should be prepared to continue her training as she decompresses! She is hoping to find a nurturing family who will give her time to adjust to being part of a family. She would love a canine companion and a safe place to run and play! Above all else, she hopes her adopter will give her all the love and kindness from here on out! Crib's adoption fee is $625

Story
Onesie is a 3 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix who weighs about 25 pounds and has the CUTEST smile. She is a love bug and happily wags her tail with new dog and human friends alike. Like any respectable lady, Onesie loves food. She loves to eat and she is very interested in treats. This is great for her training! She's working on potty training and sleeps well in her crate over night. She's still nervous with loud sounds and will need help gaining confidence and comfort in her new environment after she's adopted. She's already started to show her playful side, so we are sure she will continue to blossom once she's adapted to her forever home! Please submit an application if you'd like to meet Onesie! Story
Say hello to Nuna, a 1 year old, 23 pound, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix! Nuna has an adorable face and she wants to be with her people all the time! She coexists well with other dogs and likes new female human friends. She's not so sure about me, but her foster family is working on it! Her foster family is also helping her with all her training. It's a work in progress, but she's getting more used to being in her crate, and is working on potty training routines on a strict schedule. She likes to explore her foster home and will bury herself in blankets to get her wiggles out! She's a big fan of the couch. She likes to sleep on the arms or back of it and she hopes her forever family has a comfy couch ready for her to lounge! Speaking of forever families, Nuna is looking for a family who will give her time to learn about her new life! She is a puppy, so her adopter should be prepared for the training that comes with that. She settles into her new environment quickly and will melt into you when you hold her, so we are pretty sure you'll be quickly smitten! If you are ready for a full time companion, Nuna is ready to follow you to the ends of the earth :) Apply to meet her today! Nuna's adoption fee is $650.
