Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Lucky is a 2 year old, 31 lb CKC type mix who basically looks like a Cavalier in a larger body! We're not sure what his mix is but he's 100% adorable. He's the perfect medium sized dog. Lucky was a staff favorite at the shelter for his outgoing and friendly nature.  Lucky is a the parkour-loving, tennis ball-obsessed cuddle bug! This friendly and playful boy is ready to bring joy and laughter into your life.   Lucky thrives on routine and loves his daily schedule. He starts his day around 7:00 AM with a potty break in the backyard, followed by a walk at 7:30 AM. He's not a morning eater, so breakfast is served around 10:00 AM. Dinner is at 7:00 PM, and he enjoys another walk around 5:00 PM.   Lucky is a social butterfly who loves being around people and dogs of all ages and sizes! He enjoys companionship, whether it's lounging inside the house or soaking up the sun in the backyard. His favorite place to nap is on his very own bean bag!   This energetic boy loves to play fetch, especially with tennis balls. He's happy to entertain himself with a ball but truly shines when playing with his people. While he turns his nose up at dog treats, be warned – he has a weakness for human food! Keep those snacks safely out of reach on the dining table.   Lucky's foster has not been using a crate, but he's perfectly content in an X-pen, especially with space to stretch out in his signature 'sploot' position! He knows basic commands like 'Sit' and 'Paw' and is great on a leash, staying close by your side and making eye contact during walks.   He is about 90% potty trained. He might need some reminders at first, but he will quickly learn your house rules!   Lucky has some unique and adorable quirks. He has a funny habit of gently poking people's legs with his nose – it's his way of saying 'I'm here!' or 'What's up?' And when he wants attention, he'll stand up and gently place his paw on you, making his request known. If you sit down at his eye level, be prepared for lots of kisses! He also loves belly rubs, neck scratches, and being tucked in with a blanket.     Lucky needs a loving home where he can be part of the family and receive plenty of attention. He would make a wonderful companion for an active individual or family who enjoys playtime, cuddles, and walks. He could go to a home with another dog or without. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, and entertaining dog to add to your life, Lucky might just be your lucky charm!February 18, 2025, 2:03 pm

At just 6 months old and 9 pounds, this little guy will grow to a perfectly portioned 15-pound pup—small enough to scoop up for cuddles but big enough to keep up on all your adventures. A Day in the Life of Carne AsadaThis pup’s daily routine is as balanced as the perfect taco plate. His day starts at 7 AM with a quick potty break in the backyard alongside his tiny Yorkie foster sister. Then it’s time for breakfast, fueling up before a cozy nap while his human gets ready for the day. Carne Asada spends the workday in his crate, but don’t worry—when his person gets home, the party starts! He greets you with a full-on dance party, followed by a play session with his Yorkie buddy. Dinner is served at 5:30 PM, then it’s time to chill—watching Netflix snuggled in his very own blanket. One final potty break, some sweet goodnight kisses, and he’s ready for bed by 10 PM. Personality: From Shy to Sizzling! When Carne Asada first arrived, he was as nervous as a jalapeño in a hot pan—jumping at noises and too scared to turn his back while eating. But with love and patience, he has blossomed into a confident, affectionate companion. He now loves to watch his human from the comfort of his bed, sleeps on his back (a true sign of trust!), and follows you just enough to keep you on your toes. He’s a sweet, sensitive pup who just wants to love and be loved! The Perfect Blend of Playful & ChillCarne Asada knows how to spice things up when it’s time to play—he’s got energy, curiosity, and a love for fetch! But he’s also got a lounge mode, happy to relax and vibe with whatever you’re doing. He loves car rides, gives endless kisses, and might just be the best cuddle buddy you’ve ever had. Training & Ideal HomeCarne Asada is making great progress with potty training—he’s almost got it down but still uses a puppy pad when needed. Crate training has been a work in progress, but he’s learning! He’d do best in a home where someone has time to build his confidence and reassure him that he’s safe. A patient adopter, ideally someone with a flexible schedule or who works from home, would be perfect for him. He does great with other dogs, though his Yorkie foster sister sometimes finds him a bit too energetic. He’d love a playful pup sibling close to his size or a human who can match his energy. Why Carne Asada?Because life is better with a little extra flavor! He’s got love, personality, and just the right amount of silliness. Whether he’s dancing with you, giving you a million kisses, or making funny faces at his reflection, Carne Asada will keep you entertained and adored. Are you ready to add a little spice (and a whole lot of love) to your life? Carne Asada is waiting for his forever family—apply to meet him todayFebruary 17, 2025, 10:54 pm

If you’ve ever dreamed of having a tiny, affectionate, and slightly spicy best friend, Taquito is the pup for you! At just 6 months old and a petite 6 pounds (with an expected adult weight of around 10 pounds), this little lady is the perfect size for snuggles, lap time, and tagging along wherever you go. Just like her namesake, Taquito is a little roll of goodness—warm, comforting, and impossible to resist. When Taquito first arrived in her foster home, she was a bit shy, like a perfectly wrapped taco waiting to be unrolled. But it didn’t take long for her to come out of her shell! Now, she’s a playful, curious, and affectionate pup who follows her people from room to room like a loyal side of guacamole. She loves cuddling on the couch while her foster parents work, and if she’s not in someone’s lap, you’ll probably find her collecting all her toys in one spot—because every Taquito needs the perfect toppings! She adores playing with the resident Chihuahua, and although she respects his space, she secretly wishes he’d let her cuddle up for nap time. A Day in the Life of Taquito 6:30 AM – The day begins! Taquito wakes up in her crate and heads to her playpen for a potty break. After Potty – Morning zoomies, snuggles, or lounging on the couch while her foster parents work.9:00 AM – Breakfast time! A tiny meal for a tiny pup. Afterward, she hangs out and plays.12:00 PM – Midday potty break and quiet time in the playpen.Afternoon – More playtime and exploring! She enjoys collecting toys, snuggling, and shadowing her humans.5:00 PM – Dinner is served! After eating, Taquito loves to curl up on the couch for a TV session.7:30 PM – Back to the playpen for some downtime and a final potty break.9:00 PM – Bedtime! Taquito settles into her crate next to her foster parents' bed, sometimes whining for a minute but quickly calming down for the night. Like any young pup, Taquito is still mastering the fine art of being a grown-up dog. She’s getting the hang of potty pads (though sometimes she decorates the floor with them instead), and she’s learning that shoes are not chew toys—no matter how fun they may seem. Puppies like Taquito thrive on routine, patience, and positive training, so her new family should be ready for a few adorable antics along the way. Expect some zoomies, some very dramatic sighs when she doesn’t get her way, and the occasional discovery that your sock collection has mysteriously relocated. Taquito is still figuring out how to be alone like a confident, independent taco, but she’s making progress! Having another dog around would be like adding the perfect queso dip to her life—comforting, fun, and totally her vibe. If you're looking for a little spice, a lot of love, and a pup who will keep you entertained with her tiny, sassy ways, Taquito is ready to roll into your heart and home!February 17, 2025, 11:38 pm

This 11-pound, 2-year-old mama was rescued from the shelter after raising a litter of puppies, and now it’s her turn to be spoiled. At first, she was a little skittish, like a tortilla fresh off the griddle—warm but needing time to settle. But with patience and love, she’s transformed into a snuggly, devoted companion who would love nothing more than to be your little shadow. Enchilada is a certified Velcro dog—if you’re sitting, she’s in your lap. If you’re walking, she’s right by your side. If you’re sleeping, well… she’s curled up next to you, dreaming of belly rubs. She enjoys her daily walks, especially when the streets are quiet, and she’s an excellent little leash-walker (as long as she gets a few treats for being such a good girl). Loud noises make her nervous, and she can be cautious around new people, but with a little reassurance, she quickly warms up. She’s also got some impressive jumping skills—she once leaped onto the dining table in search of snacks, proving she’s both food-motivated and full of surprises! House training is coming along nicely—she’s had a couple of accidents but also showed she knows how to use potty pads when needed. She’s not much of a toy enthusiast, but she does enjoy chewing on her yak stick when she’s feeling bored. While she’s content to lounge on the couch or in her dog bed, she does have a playful side that occasionally makes an appearance. And if you’re looking for a stylish pup, Enchilada already has a custom-made purple fleece jacket for breezy days, which she absolutely loves to wear!Enchilada is ready to bring warmth, love, and a little bit of spice to her forever home! She’s the perfect mix of cuddly and curious, happy to snuggle up for movie nights or trot alongside you on a quiet walk. Whether she’s perched on your lap, showing off her graceful leaps, or bundled up in her favorite fleece jacket, she’ll keep you entertained and adored. If you’re looking for a devoted, pint-sized companion who will always be by your side, Enchilada is ready to fill your home with love—and maybe a little bit of playful mischief!February 18, 2025, 5:32 am
