Story
COULD YOU BE THE RIGHT HOME FOR CHANEL? Chanel, a beautiful 3-year-old Bichon Frise puppy mill survivor has been in our care for months. She hasn’t been quite ready for adoption as she remains incredibly fearful, but we’re beginning to consider the right forever home for her.
Her foster family has been incredible, just so patient, understanding, and committed to helping her heal. But Chanel still has a long journey ahead, and we’re looking for someone who truly understands what it takes to help a shy, shut-down puppy mill survivor come into her own.
So, what does that mean?
Patience, and then even more patience. Chanel may take weeks, months, or even longer to trust. Progress may come in tiny steps, and setbacks will happen.
A quiet, stable home. Sudden changes or a chaotic environment could overwhelm her.
Letting her set the pace. Chanel may not be ready for cuddles, playtime, or even simple things like walking on a leash right away. She needs someone who will allow her to blossom in her own time.
A secure yard is a must. Fearful dogs can be flight risks, so extra precautions are necessary. Another confident dog may help ( but not necessary) Many mill survivors learn from watching a well-adjusted dog in the home.
Chanel has so much love to give, but she needs a special person who sees her for who she is now and who she can become. If you think you might be the one to help her write her next chapter, please apply. We’d love to hear from those with experience in rehabilitating puppy mill survivors, or those ready to learn.
