Story
Hi I'm Stella, and I'm looking for a new home where I can be loved and become part of the family.  My foster wanted to tell you a little about me so here it is - "Stella loves to spend time with us, go in the pool, jump hurdles, go for walks and play with her toys. She is a wonderful girl!".  My foster family found me at a local gas station and I love being in a family environment. I'm searching for a loving family where I can be  their number one and given all the  attention I need. I'd probably do OK with older kids (I might knock a smaller child down since I'm a large, active puppy) and kitties if they can put up with my puppy antics. My foster is away from home a lot and has not been  able to be given the attention I so crave and I go to a boarding kennel when all I really want is to be home with my family.  I would love a family that has experience with working dogs, especially German Shepherds who understands the training needed for a young working dog puppy. I've started that training, but you will need to continue giving me lots of gentle guidance until I perfect all those big dog things, like how to behave in a house, how to walk on a leash without pulling, and all those verbal commands every dog should know.  I may even treat people with rough play or decide that a new pair of shoes or a table leg would make a great chew toy, so a lot of appropriate toys should be in my future. The good news is that with the right training and LOTS of love, I'll be the best addition to your family ever and your best bud. If you are interested in her, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review!  All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center.  Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.  Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday!January 18, 2025, 5:49 pm

Story
This is our boy Duke. He's been in our family for over 8 years, now. I saved him from being surrendered due to behavioral issues when he was around 6 months old. Most of his traits are wonderful. He's fiercely protective. Sweet. Loving. Gentle with animals. Knows many commands (sit, stay, lay down, high five etc). Great with children (who respect and understand his breed). Most of his bad habits have been washed away with our time and loyalty to him. He has issues with trusting strangers. If you let him come to you and check you out, he'll be happy to let you pet him. His biggest fault is he's a runner. The world is his oyster and an open door is all he needs to run. He will get out and not listen to commands. And that has gotten into a lot of trouble. He will bark and charge at pedestrians who are none-the-wiser. We are relocating to my elderly father's house and Duke is not invited to come (as he has scared some of my Dad's neighbors in the past) We only want the best for our Duke.
