Story
Hi, I’m Chica,Hey, I caught you looking at my profile, that makes me happy. I am ready for my new forever home. I live with several dogs and cats now. I get along with all of them, but it is time for me to be with my own family. I am a pretty strong and active dog, I walk well on a leash but sometimes when I see something interesting I can pull on the leash. I am working on it, but some things are just so tempting. I love to be active, so if you are into hiking, jogging, or playing fetch we would get along great. My foster mom says I am the sweetest dog, but she might be biased. I do like to have fun and play with the other dogs, and I am good when I meet new people too. I am good on car rides, like to go to the beach, and love to be around my family. I will need some training so I can be the best dog ever, so if you have a little patience it would be great. My ideal family will be active. I imagine us going for long walks and exploring new trails and sniffing all the great scents there. I imagine playing in the backyard with older kids and then settling down for a nice nap in a warm bed. Wow, I can’t wait. If that sounds like we could be a match, then just fill in the application and we can meet on a Zoom call.Lots of love to give,Chica To get more information go to https://hope4lapawz.org/adopt and click on the dog's photo. Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Say hello to Maverick! He is a stunning, 4-year-old, 56lb Catahoula/Border Collie mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA. Maverick is an awesome dog with stunning looks! He is super sweet and loves to be with his person. He also walks very well on leash and stays close to his handler, checking in quite frequently. He is still very shut down and shy, and requires time and patience in building confidence in new situations. Loud noises and sudden movements tend to scare him, so he is a flight risk and will need a handler who has a secure grip on his leash at all times. Maverick has done well with other dogs in our care and would be a great additional dog to a home. He would also do fine as an only dog with continued socialization. He is truly a sweet dog with a lot of love to give and is looking for a person to call his own! Maverick is UTD vaccinations, microchip, and neutered. His adoption fee is $450.

Indio was around the shelter for two years, neglected by his former owners, we decided to give him a space in the shelter when he started playing among the cars on the road. In the midst of danger we were able to get him to safety, and he currently has his full vaccination schedule, microchipped and neutered, ready for his new home. He is a very faithful, intelligent, calm and very sociable dog. He was raised with other dogs and cats, so he makes him a good companion for any family, he likes to go for a walk on a leash, cuddles, receive prizes and learns very quickly. He is an affectionate companion, ideal for a family with children and cats, who wants to give him the love he deserves. The $550.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to Oregon or Washington. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Toffee is available for adoption in Texas only. Meet Toffee, a 6-month-old Catahoula mix with the sweetest personality! While he's cautious due to his limited hearing (he can hear high-pitched sounds or whistles), it doesn't stop him from enjoying life. Toffee loves playing with other dogs, has zero interest in squirrels, and is incredibly gentle with a super soft mouth. He doesn't jump up on people, crates easily, and is almost fully potty trained. Toffee's sweet nature and calm demeanor make him a wonderful companion. He's ready to find a loving forever home! Could Toffee be the sweet addition to your family? Story
Welcome Skipper to CCPAL Rescue. Skipper is a 90-pound Ridgeback/Dane mix is our best guess. He is a mush to the people he knows and his breed is very loyal. He was adopted out as a tiny puppy and a year and a half later he was found on the streets skinny and with hair loss. He is now back at the rescue and he is doing great. He is friendly to all of us and very happy to see his friends. He didn’t jump up but he does pull on leash. I don’t think he got to do much leash work. He has an adorable widow’s peak. He would be great for a family who has a traveling father or someone not home. You could feel safe that Skipper would keep the family safe. He looks intimidating and has a big bark but very very gentle and goofy to those he loves. He has a low coat and not a big shedding dog. We would like someone who has worked with an extra-large breed or a Ridgeback. He will do good with a strong owner that is willing to work with him to give him direction and training. He is one of our favorites and we think he may be related to JJ who is also available at CCPAL. Skipper has been checked over by the vet and is in good health. He has been given a Bravecto and is growing hair and putting on weight here at the rescue. He would be a great partner for a jogger and due to his large size could definitely keep up with even a faster stride. He can go with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Reba to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 1-year-old Shepherd/Greyhound mix dog. She weighs about 65 pounds and is long and leggy. She is a great dog and would make a good running, jogging or walking companion. She has long legs so she could keep stride. She has tons of energy so she would be best with an athletic and active family. She could go with children. She is active so 8 or up would be best. Her best home would be with a fenced yard and time to finish off her training. She was probably gotten as a puppy and put in the backyard. She now is dog sized but has puppy skills. She is a wonderful dog and with some training will make a wonderful family pet. She was rescued from one of the local high kill shelters that are over flowing and asking for help. CCPAL stepped up for her. She is healthy, vaccinated and will be spayed before she leaves the Rescue. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 250 and transport is 180. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Because you will be giving one of our many dogs and cats in need a chance for a better future away from a city that has an animal crisis. We are heartbroken each day with the many incredible and loving animals found wandering our streets. So often are these animals dumped, abandoned, or born on the streets and never find a home to call their own. We are giving them the chance that every animal deserves. We know that since you are looking to add a furry family member to your home here, you will provide the love, care, and attention they need to thrive.
