Story
previously "Deciduous" - June Bug's foster has been calling her so for so long that it stuck! All about this sweet lady: Junie is [mostly] house- and crate-trained, knows basic commands and is very eager to please. Her main goal in life is to soak up as much love as possible! Junie is low to medium energy, just looking for a comfy lap or bed to curl up in and snooze until the next adventure! As far as that hound howl, June Bug is fairly quiet unless CAT! or someone else is getting more scritches than her. She lets you know when she's not getting enough attention! Junie loves cuddle puddles with her current foster pack, two & four legged, even trying to squeeze in where there's nooot exactly enough room to the point where she's fallen off the bed & couch several times! Because Junie likes all the attention for herself, she would likely be just as happy as an only pet. This goofy girl also LOVES car rides - that feeling of the wind through her floppy ears - and SQUEAKY TOYS! She will never get enough of them! True, Junie isn't a huge fan of baths, but feels soooo starved for attention that she tolerates them, and nail trims, without much fuss. Any press is good press, right? If you're looking for a laid back gal to snuggle, nap or take a leisurely hike with, JUNE BUG is your lady! Call the shelter to set up a meet & greet with June Bug's foster: updated: 10/28/24

Story
If you are looking for a very energetic & affectionate pup, then you've struck gold! Sunrise Dawn is very athletic, agile & bouncy; and, boy, can she run! On top of that, she is a beautiful lady with some very unique spotted markings, mostly on her underside, that remind one of those nifty jackets with the contrast linings. Very bespoke! We're thinking Catahoula/Lab mix? Sunrise LOVES to give hugs & kisses to anyone who will let her; and is very people oriented. She's been great with kids, but can be dog selective and should go to a home NO CATS (strong prey drive). Her ideal pet parent/s will be patient, confident, and able to offer Sunrise plenty of exercise, preferably on a property with space to run. She's also very strong and would greatly benefit from an Obedience Training class. Sunrise is a special lady that needs to be exercised & challenged often! Want to meet her? Call the shelter to set up a meet & greet! updated 10/30/24

Story
Maryann and Jenny showed up at a good Samaritan's house. The good Samaritan brought them to our facility, and we took them in. Well, how could we resist. They were so frightened and scared but are doing much better now. They are up to date on shots, spayed, microchipped and ready to be adopted. Who could resist those faces. They are adorable and they need a good loving home full of happiness, playfulness and lots of love. We don't know if they are siblings or not but that they came in together. The foster that has them now says they are coming out of their shell and are very playful and full of life. They love chasing each other and playing tag. They are very curious and so affectionate. They will be great for any family to have one of them for a family member. She is in TN but the cost of transport to your area is included in her fee. We use the most animal friendly transport on the road, Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Star has been in foster care and boarding for a while, and she wants a forever home! Also, if you live out of state, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee.

Story
ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND. Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who came to us last fall when we was not longer wanted to hunting. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. His foster mom has worked diligently the last several months to house train Harry. He's also battled glaucoma and will need ongoing medical care. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude. (We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.) Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) (Harry Neil's Adoption fee is WAIVED!) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
