Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Star has been in foster care and boarding for a while, and she wants a forever home! Also, if you live out of state, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee.

If you are looking for a cuddle buddy, Atlas is the guy for you. His unique looks and amazingly sweet and inquisitive personality are products of his rich breed mixture. Atlas (also known as "Mr. Steal Your Heart and Pillow") enjoys long walks, short car rides, exploring, cooling off in creeks, lounging around the house, playing tug, unstuffing plush toys, wrestling and playing the bitey face game with his doggy sibling, cuddling in bed, and anything else that allows him to spend time with his family. At almost 3 years old, he has outgrown most undesirable puppy behaviors, but is still an active boy who requires adequate exercise. He does well with children and other dogs. He has done well with cats! He likes to lead walks and can be overly eager to meet new dog friends, so some training in those areas is recommended. He also gets overwhelmed in busy settings and sometimes experiences stranger danger so it is advised to avoid crowded settings unless addressed by a trainer. He is overnight crate trained, but he becomes anxious when left in the crate for extended periods of time during the day so his ideal home would have a pet parent who is home for the greater part of the day. Atlas is learning how to pull carts. He is a very smart dog and seeks to please his owners. Atlas is house/potty trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. Willa and Watson (siblings) came from the Brookhaven pound. We saw them on Face Book. The Brookhaven pound was going to put these puppies down because they were so shy. They couldn’t find a rescue group to take them. We decided to help them. They are super sweet, but they are very shy. Walter is not as shy as Willa. They feel very comfortable in their environment, but when taken to the vet, they do get nervous. They do respond to love, but they need somebody that will spend time with them. Because we are so overcrowded, they have never had an opportunity to live in the house. They were heavily bonded at the foster’s house, and they loved to play together. The foster did not spend any time with them, but the children played with them some in the fenced in area. They play well with other dogs, but they have never been around cats. Since they have been at Blue Ribbon Kennels, they have been in separate kennels for the past 13 months. They both need a special home with somebody that will spend a lot of time loving them, giving them a lot of attention and being patient with them. CHANCE MUST BE ADOPTED SOON AS HIS FOSTER MOTHER CANNOT KEEP HIM MUCH LONGER! Let me introduce Chance, one of the coolest dogs in our rescue! His foster mother has medical issues, and she wants him to find his furever home ASAP! This awesome guy was abandoned in the woods, alone in the middle of nowhere, when he was still a puppy – scared and left to die young. He is extremely sweet. Chance loves toys and playing fetch - playtime is high on his wish list. He is very friendly, never meets a stranger, and loves absolutely everyone he meets. He still has a puppy spirit and needs activity & exercise! He would be great for an active family that hikes or runs, as long as there are cuddles and belly rubs. His leash walking is progressing well. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introduced. He will be happiest as a loving family companion.
