Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Some dogs come to us with very special needs and BamBam is one of those dogs.  While he is a playful pup full of energy and affection, he is also extremely fearful of the world.  This fear can manifest into making him protective and reactive.  As his anxiety traits present a challenge, a quiet, experienced and patient home is required to address his needs.  He should also be in a home without children or other pets.  Among his many positive qualities, he is quiet, house trained, crate trained, and he will sit nicely and lift his paw for a treat.  He is extremely shy when meeting new people but once BamBam feels comfortable, he will be your loyal companion forever!    **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Story
Lady Grey is the sweetest, cuddliest girl. She loves all humans and if you sit down, she's immediately in your lap. She loves kids and rides to school with them everyday and picks them up at the bus stop everyday. She's excited and wags her tail as soon as she sees her young humans! She LOVES her crate and immediately started taking all of her daytime naps in her crate. She's getting really good at going potty outside and we have installed bells on the doorknob in the hopes she will soon understand that you ring the bell to go out. She is currently indifferent to dogs, which makes walking her very nice. Overall she's a very sweet and cuddly girl. Mandatory in person transfer date: February 16th at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption. ##2284130##

Story
Please contact Nancy Anderson (nancya@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet girl looking for her forever home! BIGGIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name: Biggie          Best Guess for Breed:  Catahoula/Jack Russell Terrier mix    Best Guess for Age:   1 year as of 12/24/24    SEX: Female   Approximate Weight:   27 pounds as of 12/24/24   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! She has also done well living with kids. She has not seemed particularly interested in the cats she's seen, but to our knowledge she has not lived with a cat.    Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Biggie is Looking For:  Her forever home! Through no fault of her own, this sweetie ended up in the shelter. She's eagerly looking forward to having her own humans for long sniffy walks and romps in the park and all the adventures they can dream up. What do you say? Is she the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me:  Biggie is the best! She is a ray of sunlight! She is so exuberant in how she shows and asks for love. She'll mash up against me and then slowly collapse into a puddle, begging for belly rubs. She is just such a snuggler. I love the way she simply curls up against me when we're all relaxing in the evening, sighs, looks at me, and goes to sleep on my lap. She loves life as much as she loves her humans. On leash, she is eager to sniff and explore, and takes such pleasure in her walks. I like her fast pace on walks - she has a 'so much to see and sniff, so little time' joy. I especially appreciate the fast pace on extra-cold days.  At home, Biggie is the perfect WFH companion. When I'm working she settles on the floor next to me. She'll follow me if I move around, but will settle if I keep moving. But if I sit and look at her - she's right there, knowing it's time for her to get some attention. She loves being petted, loves snuggling up next to me. She's very friendly with my dogs - happy to see them and likes being around them, but doesn't initiate play. She has yet to learn how to play with toys, so with more experience she might start wanting to play with other dogs too. Training her will be fun.  Biggie is just such a loving, curious, and all-around great dog. She's the perfect compact size - not too small, not too large. She and her forever family will be very lucky to have each other Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Rye is searching for her forever home as the only animal so that she can soak up all the attention from her humans! RYE'S STORY FROM OUR DIRECTOR: Rye was brought up to the DMV Region from a Texas shelter in 2020. I was working for another rescue at the time, running the transport/foster program, and offloaded her myself when she arrived. She fit into the palm of my hand she was so small and only a few weeks old. She was adopted immediately, incorrectly labeled as a chihuahua mix. Unfortunately, 7 months later, her family returned her due to the combination of the pandemic and how "big" she got (she's only 40 lbs but they were expecting an 8 lb Chi-Mix!). Unfortunately from there, Rye was bounced around from foster to foster and boarding facilities until 2021 when the previous rescue felt it was best to euthanize her. I couldn't let that happen so I adopted her with the intention of finding her a home! I renamed her to Rye (named for the kind of whiskey) and started working on training with her. She was our first intake when I co-founded Laila's Legacy in 2023 and we've been working to find her a home since then. RYE IN THE HOME / HER PERFECT FIT: Rye has the funniest personality. She's got energy, bounciness, and is so inquisitive. She's also insanely smart. The latter is a blessing and a curse because she learns training so quickly, has great recall (although I've never allowed her to be off-leash just long-lines for hikes/walks), and learned leash walking skills very quickly. On the flip side, she needs a lot of mental stimulation to keep that big brain happy! I've found it really can be a mix of things to do that though - sitting outside on the stoop to people watch from my house, sitting in a park with her practicing neutrality (and getting treats of course) while I read, practicing all her tricks, working on recall on a long-line, playing tug/fetch, brain games and puzzle toys, you name it. Anyone that is excited to go on walks and spend time with their dog - have a companion - will love Rye. She just wants to hang with her humans and get some mental stimulation while she does it. In late 2021, Rye started urinating in her crate. An odd behavior because she's very potty trained and crate trained. In early 2022 she had a seizure and it was then we discovered she was having mini-seizures causing her to urinate in her crate. Unfortunately, they do still occasionally happen but she takes a once daily med called Keppra which is easy to get from Chewy and she LOVES peanut butter so she takes it every day without issue. I've seen the crate urination drastically reduce and when I was working from home full-time it was non existent because she was hanging with me outside of the crate so much. Rye's intelligence comes from her breed - likely Catahoula or some sort of herding breed. That's where her prey drive comes from as well so she'd prefer a home without cats! When it comes to her relationship with dogs, she loves to play. She'll play with mine and have a grand ol' time romping around with them. Because of her herding tendencies she's been muzzle trained as well for playing and has a cute bright pink muzzle for when it's needed and she wears it with ~style~. In the home, Rye will guard her items from other dogs. This could include food, toys, bed, etc. so for her sake we recommend she not go to a home with dogs in it. But honestly, that will also be a win-win because she LOVES her humans so fiercely and wants to be your companion that it'll let her have all the one-on-one time she and her future owner will love. Rye has been through a training program and her trainer loves her. Rye's future forever family will be connected with that trainer for a "Rye 101 Course" on her training and are highly encouraged to do more sessions and continue to build her education! While I adore Rye with my whole heart, and have been honored to spend so much time with her, it's time for this sweet gal to find her forever home and get OUT of the rescue world! She deserves to be the spoiled queen she wants to be and I can' t wait to see that for her! Please check out her video at here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3Oz8dKkj64 ------------ Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained.
