This delightfully charming fellow is Manchas, listed as a Catahoula Leopard mix that was surrendered on 4/8 to the Mesquite Animal Shelter.He weighs 60 pounds, is about 4 years old and is neutered.This remarkable boy has lots of personality. He knows the sit and paw commands. He is exuberant and excitable. Sweet boy is playful and loves squeaky toys! He will entertain himself and you when playing with his toys. He sits for treats and takes them politely. This friendly boy is perfectly happy with being petted and loved on. He has the best smile and would truly be a wonderful pet for someone who would stay committed to him, allow him to live inside and give him plenty of daily exercise, playtime, and maybe even teach him a few new commands. He appears to be house trained. He walks fine on a leash.

Meet Valen! He is a 2 yr old neutered male Catahoula Leopard Dog that weighs 51 lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/29 as a stray. He is a very handsome boy! Valen`s favorite thing to do is to go on walks, having his nose up, taking in all the smells. A calmness comes over him and a bit of a smile can be seen. He enjoys being petted and loved on, and the longer you spend time with him the more he comes to you to seek out attention. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently and wasn`t bothered by other dogs that were barking at him. It`s clear to see if he was out of the shelter and in his own loving home, away from all the noise, he would show even more of his wonderful personality. Be sure If you do have another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. He has a gentle and loving soul as it`s clear to see, and would make a great family companion. Bonbon is a gentle and affectionate girl who adores giving kisses and soaking up all the belly rubs she can get. Bonbon spent several months in a crowded shelter and was sadly running out of time when we rescued her. Before arriving at the shelter, she had been a stray for some time, but through it all, she has remained incredibly sweet and trusting. RESCUE ONLYThis is an updated eval of Maddox, a Blue Merle Catahoula Leopard mix surrendered to the Mesquite Shelter on 10/1. He weighs 43 pounds and is about 7-8 months of age. Maddox arrived injured having been attacked by another dog while tied to a tree. Staff took him to the vet and his injuries included a puncture wound as well as a deep laceration on his front left leg. The laceration was sutured. Maddox had a bandage for on for several days and it has been removed. He has a follow-up appointment on 10/25 to determine the progress of the recovery. When the vet report from that visit is forwarded to us, I will send out one final evaluation. Maddox moves around quite freely, and the injury does not seem to have slowed him down any. He favors the leg very little. Maddox is a happy-go-lucky, high energy, fun-loving pup, playful, friendly, and sweet natured. He does jump on you quite a bit in his excitement and manners training will certainly be in order. He would seem best suited for an active family who would take him for a walks, play with him and give him daily enrichment. When I first met Merri she had just arrived at the shelter, and yet she reached through the bars to get my attention. She is a 1 to 2 year old 53 pound Catahoula Leopard dog that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/26. She was brought in by one of our concerned citizens. The bonus is that she’s already spayed! And besides she’s very attractive. When she first got into the yard she was so happy she was almost uncontrollable.…hence the name Merri (merry?). However, after just a few minutes she settled down. She looked like she wanted to jump on me, but all I needed to say was a stern no and she didn’t. She obviously wants to please. I also noticed that she was somewhat shy at times. She found a squeaky toy in my pocket and got it out to play with. She likes to play fetch. However, when I squeaked it she was unsure of what to make of it and me. She shied away. She did wag her tail constantly. She sits for treats without even being asked and takes treats gently. She stayed close. She walked okay on a leash. She has a lot of love to give. She would like to be considered a member of your family, and therefore cuddle up with you and share family time.
