Story
*SPECIAL NEEDS - PLEASE READ FULL BIO* Celyn! Celyn joined us on December 30, 2023, and we were thrilled to ring in the new year with her. We hoped her stay would be short, but sadly, this sweet girl has been waiting almost 9 months for her forever home. Celyn is a unique and special pup—she’s deaf and partially blind, which sadly causes her to be overlooked time and time again. 💔 ✨ Age: 1 year old 🤫 Weight: About 45 lbs—truly the perfect size! 🐶 Breed: Catahoula Mix (or as we like to call her, a Spotted Secret Keeper) 👃 Special Abilities: SUPER Scenter! Celyn can sniff out anything—her favorite volunteers, a meal, or treats on the way. She may not hear with her ears, but she hears with her heart. ❤️ 🏃‍♀️ Dreams: Celyn wants to run track in the 2028 Paralympics! We haven’t told her yet that the Olympics are only for humans. 🤫 ⚡ Activity Level: Pretty high—she loves to run in the play yard and zoom around with her doggy friends. 🧸 Toys: BIG fan! She’s happy tossing toys to herself or playing with friends. 🍖 Treats: Treats are life! 🥾 Love hiking? So does Celyn! Her disabilities don’t slow her down—she enjoys long hikes with her active volunteer buddies. 💬 Need a secret keeper? Celyn’s your girl. She can’t hear your secrets, so she’ll never spill them! 🐱 Cats? She hasn’t been tested, but we’re happy to try if someone applies for her! 🐕 Dogs? Celyn is a social butterfly and loves her dog pals. 👧 Kids? She does amazing at events and loves meeting kids of all ages! She might get a little in your bubble while sniffing everyone out, though. 🏡 Ideal Family? Active, patient, and excited to train a special-needs dog. Even though Celyn is focused on her Olympic dreams, she will need her family to also be willing to train her as well. Deaf dogs are amazing creatures and are easily trained, often with things like hand signals and other training techniques. Obviously even more care than usual should be taken to make sure she does not accidentally get out off leash as she cannot hear you calling her back and can't hear dangers like cars coming. She may also be partially visually impaired. She does so well, it is really hard to tell! For the boring stuff: Celyn is crate trained and has been working hard on her housebreaking. She prefers going potty off-leash and would benefit from having a yard where she can roam and find some privacy for her bathroom breaks. 🚽 We all need a little alone time, right? She’s been sniffing for her forever family for far too long. This sweet girl is ready to find her home and start her journey to the 2028 Olympics in LA. 😉 Celyn's adoption fee includes her spay, age appropriate vaccinations and microchipping. She is up to date on deworming and preventatives. Interested in Celyn?     adoption donation : $699 weight  45 lbs  Age 7 months as of 1/15          Wyatt is a sweet and friendly boy who is great with other dogs and loves everyone he meets. He was found all alone in a pasture in a rural part of Mississippi, when the Wags director spotted him and called out, Wyatt came running over, tail wagging.      At the rescue, Wyatt is having a grand time romping with all the dogs and snuggling up together for puppy power naps!  He hasn’t met any cats, but he is a mellow boy and doesn’t appear to have a prey instinct and would likely be fine with them.         Wyatt is house trained at Wags but like any rescue may need a refresher course while he adjust to a new home. Wyatt is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines. He is a sweet loving  boy who will make a wonderful family dog.    Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs.  Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use. For more information on adopting Wyatt or any of our many Wags dogs please email mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com    January 26, 2025, 8:58 pm

Story
Meet Leopold, a delightful 1.5-year-old Catahoula mix who is as beautiful as he is loving! 🐾❤️ With his striking features and gentle eyes, he draws you in instantly. Leopold is not just a pet; he’s a big, sweet boy whose affectionate nature shines through every moment you spend with him. He adores cuddling and prefers to lounge around, soaking up all the love and warmth from his human companions rather than being overly active. Leopold’s story is one of resilience and strength. He has faced significant adversity; someone shot him with a gun, leaving him with fragments in his body. It’s hard to believe that such a gentle soul has experienced such pain, but Leopold continues to display an incredible spirit. The vet has assured us that the fragments aren’t causing him any problems and would be challenging to remove. They certainly don’t hinder his zest for life. This lovable boy is not only friendly but also incredibly social. He gets along fabulously with children, making him an excellent choice for families looking to add a furry member to their household. Leopold is also comfortable around other pets, including cats and dogs, which means he can seamlessly integrate into a multi-pet home. His calm demeanor and sociable nature make him the perfect companion for playdates or lazy afternoons spent lounging in the sun. Leopold is ready for his forever home and comes fully prepared, as he is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He’s on the lookout for a loving family that will appreciate his gentle spirit and provide him with the affection he longs for. If you’re searching for a loyal companion who will bring joy, comfort, and a sense of warmth to your life, look no further than Leopold. He can’t wait to meet you and start a new chapter filled with love and happiness! ❤️ RPACI is a non profit rescue, and currently possess our 501C3 to operate as such. Please visit us on Facebook: Rebecca's Paws and Claws in Remlap and our website: www.rpacirescue.org. All dogs from this rescue are transported from Alabama to the Pennsylvania/ New England area and delivered in Pennsylvania and RI. Each dog will come fully vetted. Price also includes transportation and a Health Certificate as required by law. There is a 100.00 deposit required at the time of adoption to secure the transport crate. The remainder of the fee will be paid once you pick up the dog. Naturally the 100.00 comes off the total owed at pick up. It will be refunded if for any reason you decide you do not want to adopt, unless the transport has already left.with the dog. Story
Luna and I have been together since I adopted her when she was 4 months old and I had just graduated from grad school. I've done my best to give her a the best life I can for the past 9 years but I think there might be something better for her. anxiety and separation issues have made house training very difficult and I know she'd thrive better in a space with better access to the outdoors. Luna has some sight issues since birth that make her more reactive in bright light but they don't limit her in day-to-day activities. I love her with my whole heart and it will be difficult to part with her, but I know there's a better home out there for her and I want her to spend her senior years in peace.

Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Star has been in foster care and boarding for a while, and she wants a forever home! Also, if you live out of state, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee.
