Story
We adopted Otis when he was around 8 months old. He is now 7, and absolutely a good boy. Very energetic over the years and has a knack for herding us, the kids, and the cat whenever possible. He loves wide open spaces and does best with large yards and or lots of land. We’re looking for someone who can help give Otis the space he deserves, as through career changes, kids, and buying a home, his space has shrunk vastly. He loves regular walks or runs, but is at his happiest off his leash and running with other dogs/chasing toys. While he has done fine with our kids and others who have visited, he is unaware of just how big he is and often knocks them over (mostly due to our smaller home that he is not used to). We have had several cats as well, which he mostly just enjoys playing with while again not realizing how much larger he is. He is very intelligent and loves being trained as well.

Story
Hi! I’m Peppa! Peppa is an adorable 16-week-old female Catahoula and Red Heeler mix, full of energy, love, and potential. Found abandoned on her foster’s rental property at a tiny 3 weeks old, Peppa is ready for a fresh start with a loving family. She has been fully vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, and dewormed. Peppa is also on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, ensuring she’s in top health. Peppa loves spending time outdoors, playing, and exploring the world around her. She gets along well with other dogs, loves kids, and tolerates cats, making her a great addition to a variety of households. Most of all, she’s a cuddle bug who absolutely loves her people and other pets. She prefers to sleep close to her humans at night. She uses a doggie door and is potty trained with an occasional night time accident. (She doesn't like going outside alone in the dark.) She fully enjoys family car rides with her foster "pack" and family. She is leash trained, and loves dog parks! Peppa's loving and affectionate personality makes her a great addition to any home. Peppa is expected to be a medium-sized dog and the vet believes she will not be bigger than 50lbs.

Story
Meet Rome – A Survivor Ready for His Forever Home Rome has spent his entire life waiting for someone to love him. For three long years, he was chained outside, neglected, and forgotten. He had never been inside a home, never known comfort, and never experienced kindness. When he was finally surrendered to a high-kill rural shelter, he sat alone in a dark, damp kennel, waiting for a fate he didn’t deserve. But Rome’s story didn’t end there. We rescued him just in time and discovered he was heartworm positive. Despite everything he has endured, Rome has the most incredible spirit. He is gentle, loving, and eager to please. Now fully vetted, neutered, and on the road to recovery, Rome is looking for a family who will give him the love and security he has never known. Rome’s Ideal Home: A patient and loving family committed to continuing his journey A home where he can finally experience the warmth of being indoors A fenced yard where he can run, play, and feel free A family willing to provide him with structure, training, and lots of love Rome is proof that no matter how heartbreaking the past, the future can still be bright. He is ready for his second chance—are you the one to give it to him? Apply to adopt Rome today and give him the home he has always deserved.

Story
Pepper is a 7 year old purebred Rhodesian ridgeback. She will follow you like a shadow. She enjoys going places or just sitting in the house quietly. She does well in a crate. She has had a TPLO on her left leg. She currently resides with 3 cats and another large older dog. However, she does not get along with small dogs. We recently relocated to a small farm and she is killing chickens. She tends to prefer women.

Don't like being kenneled but respects dog gates in home. Doesn't mind being a couch potato. Basic Training: Knows her basics and listen well with food motivation. Drive is lacking without the food bonus, but she can still listen. Walks decent on leash but when excitable leash correction is needed Other Dogs: Other male dogs in the home will be fine, but she wants to be the only queen lady. Cats: Respects the cats in the trainers home but had limited access Kids: No known behavior for concern with kids and has lived with older kids. Fencing: Has been trained to electric fence and respects 5 ft fence Willing to dart doors if not given direction to wait if she is excited. The adoption fee is $50. This dog has had its age-appropriate Vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies shot (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic de-wormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped with free registration. Important PLEASE read if interested in adoption: We have a pretty open adoption policy, apartments, unfenced yards, and young kids are okay, but only if the pet you are interested in is a good fit for that situation!!! Some dogs may require a fence of a certain type and height, due to safety, the breed or known history. We are looking for pet parents that provide vet care such as routine vaccines for their pets and heartworm prevention for dogs. Please understand we do cross check vet references and landowners/landlord policies and cannot process applications with incomplete or incorrect information. We asked that you take your newly adopted dog for a vet exam in the first 30 days to establish with your vet and obtain their heartworm prevention prescriptions and have a fecal exam administered as some pets may need additional de-womer after leaving our care.    Please submit a  Pre-Adoption Questionnaire by clicking the hyperlink if visible or visiting  Our Home Page to the application link  to show your interest in adoption. Only submit one app for any of our dogs, your app will be on file for at least 1 year. Story
This distinguished gentleman is Todd! Todd is an approximately 7.5-year old male Treeing Walker Hound mix who weighs around 50 lbs. Todd was adopted at 1-year old and returned to the rescue recently when the family decided they wanted a new puppy and Todd could not “warm” up to the puppy. Todd is searching for a loving forever home that will include him in activities and give him lots of love and attention. He loves to run in the yard, so he needs a securely fenced back yard. Todd has done really well with the other dogs he has met, but prefers those who are laid back and not in his face. Todd can be playful and energetic, but he can also be laid back and loving. A perfect combination! He appears house-trained, will go in a crate (but not a fan), and is good on a leash. He is neutered, current on vaccines, on heartworm preventative, and microchipped. Since Todd is in a daycare boarding situation, he qualifies for a foster-to-adopt or just a foster dog! To adopt Todd, go to www.foreveryoursokc.org/adoption-application. To foster Todd, go to www.foreveryoursokc.org/foster-application.
