Story
Theebo came from Louisiana Death Row due to overcrowding. Upon arrival, his fur was falling out and he had some wounds around his face likely due to an animal fight. However, he's as sweet as can be and gets along with the other dogs here. We're not sure about his background but behavioral assessment has determined that he may have not had much of a home life. He is leaving "puppy brain" and will need some basic training to set him up for success. Despite all of that, Theebo has been a fantastic guest and needs a good home that would love to take him on adventures on occasions. Fenced-In yard highly recommended but not required for an active family. He plays well with others but seems content being the only cool kid around. Theebo is a chewer for toys and also loves sticks. Will cat test upon request. With kids, he does well but does get mouthy with the hands. We are currently working with him to stop the behavior, but adopters will need to reinforce training. Thankfully, he's very smart and picks up on things fast. Not exactly house-trained but does well with supervision. Crate trained and is quiet. He does alright on the leash but would benefit from some reinforcement. If you're looking for a beautiful, coated dog with a high potential output for training - look no further. Theebo will be your best friends and over the moon to finally have a family to call his own. The rescue will assist with basic training to get the family started. Bonus: Theebo has a little bit of blue in left eye. How cool is that?

Story
Poor Ophelia has not had an easy life so far. Originally, she was kept in an under-sized crate with her other siblings. Before she came to our shelter she had never been in a car, or on a leash. Ophelia is a beautiful girl, and it did not take long at all once she was available that she was adopted. Unfortunately, she spent 9 months in her home before she was returned to us. It seems as though she recieved no training whatsoever in those 9 months, and she has been returned due to frustrations resulting from not being trained. Ophelia has been returned extremely fearful, and she now growls as a response to her fear due to her lack of socialization. Her adopters did not potty train her, and she has very anxious habits such as chewing. She may be crate trained, but her adopters kept her in her crate overnight, while they were away, and as "punishment". So she essentially spent her adopted 9 months in a crate as she did before she came into our shelter originally. We are not trying to deter any adopters, we just want to be transparent of her needs and current state in order to find the best fitting home for her. She has not even been back here for a week, and she is already improving in mood with shelter staff and has begun to come out of her shell again. Ophelia would do best in a quieter home with a very patient adopter. She would greatly benefit from being worked with by a trainer who can provide guidance and consistency for her. At this point in time, we do not recommend that she goes to a home with any other dogs or cats. Due to her fear response of new people, we recommend keeping her seperate when having company over, at least until she is more comfortable. We do not recommend a home with children. If children visit the home, she will need to be placed in a seperate area from them. Due to the lack of effort put into her as a puppy, she will require a large amount of patience and work to become the truly amazing dog we know that she can be. She will require and extra special person as her adopter, someone who has experience in dog ownership and even training if possible. We know shes a bit of a "fixer upper", but we also know her perfect person is out there. Ophelia has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has tested neg. for heartworm which is included in the $155 adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this dog, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays)

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. I'm Spazz! I'm about 7 months old and I weigh about 30 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound and I am now looking for a loving new family to join. I am a very sweet boy, but I am very energetic and I would would do best with an active family that will provide me with structure and training. I will also need work with potty training as my former owners were having trouble with getting me potty trained. I have been fine around the other dogs here at the pound for the most part, but I am very rambunctious and the other dogs are not always appreciative of it. If you're looking for a sweet pup to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
