You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $250 plus taxBonnaroo needs a strong, gentle pack leader who will not allow him to be in charge.  Yes he is a big boy and can be intimidating to some but when he knows you are the boss because you guide him to do the right thing, he is all yes ma’am, yes sir.  He will need continued training and yes, we have a trainer already set up to work with him.  We just need a foster or adopter who is willing to put in the time for socialization and training.  He will thrive in an environment that has boundaries and expectations for him too follow. He is true to his people and although needs a minute to be ok with strangers, once he is comfortable, he is all snuggles and happy wiggles. He is housebroken and crate trained and walks well on a leash.  Right now he prefers to be the only dog in the home.  He needs to learn how to socialize or ignore other dogs.  Yes the trainer will help with that.   Look at that face…. Won’t you help Bonnaroo be all he can be??   If you have filled out an application please just email adoptionatmars@gmail.com   If you are a previous foster please email fosteratmars@gmail.com   Let's get this big guy home!!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lindsay found herself unwanted and on death row in a high kill shelter in West Texas.  She loves other dogs.  Cats and young children are unknown. She is good with all people. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Lindsay is a sweet, playful pup ready to find her forever family. She loves to play with toys, chew on bones, be outside, go on walks, but most importantly be with others. She is a social butterfly looking for people or dogs to love on. She has so much love to give!  Lindsay currently lives with 2 other dogs. Lindsay’s foster sister is an elderly dog who doesn’t love to play. Lindsay respects that and greets her kindly before going to play with her foster brother. Her foster brother loves to play and chase (or be chased) around the yard. He lets her climb all over him and shares his toys well (after an initial slow introduction). Lindsay is also a huge snuggle bug. She loves to curl up in a blanket on the couch. She will also curl up in a blanket in her kennel but she may whine about it for a little at first. She sleeps through the night in her kennel and is working on potty training (but keeps her kennel clean). She’s highly motivated to learn and super smart so we think she’ll catch on quickly with anything she learns. She has skills so if you have a 4' fence, you will need to keep a close eye on her or use a long line as a back up as she can easily hop over it.  Currently, Lindsay does not live with any kids but has interacted with kids and does really well. We think she would do well in a house with kids as she is gentle and loves them when she is attending events.  First priority will go to someone who lives in the twin cities metro in order to bring to a vet visit.  Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 5, 2024, 12:40 pm

Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Also, if you live out of state we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend.

Story
Meet Marbles! She’s a 11 week old female Catahoula leopard dog mix. She is a big girl that loves attention and sleep! She is quickly learning the crate and is doing well with her potty training! Marbles likes to play with the older dogs, but does appreciate attention from humans to get that affection! She will fit in great with any family, but her foster mom thinks she would be great first puppy for kids as she learns very fast and is pretty calm! Mom is a Catahoula mix and about 55 pounds. Dad is unknown, but they probably have some terrier in them.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.September 6, 2024, 9:31 pm

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $300.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi! My name is Dozier and I am from Minnesota. From his foster: Don't let his silver muzzle fool you! Dozier is a middle-aged silver fox with lots of pep in his step, a silky smooth coat, and a very distinguished look. Dozier is fully potty trained and can be left home alone without being crated. During the day, he's happy to lounge around the house, be by your side as you perform your daily tasks, or melt into your lap for snuggles. At night, he would love to share your bed and keep you warm. Dozier's biggest challenge is his reactivity to dogs. This means he'll bark and get very stressed when he sees another dog even from a significant distance. Sometimes other things like a person walking by or dogs barking can also set him off. We are diligently working with Dozier to change his associations with these triggers and are starting to see progress but it takes time and patience. Despite his reactivity to dogs, Dozier has built a positive relationship with our other foster dog who is also dog-reactive. They both needed their own space as they got used to each other and slow introductions with integration over a couple of weeks. Now they play together, relax together, and enjoy each other's company. We're confident that Dozier could build a close bond with other dogs if done gradually. What would help Dozier thrive? -An adopter who understands that Dozier is not the type of dog you can take to the neighborhood coffee shop, a busy lake for a walk, or the dog park. Even with progress over time, Dozier will likely always need more space from unfamiliar dogs. For this reason, we don't think Dozier would be successful in a high-density environment or apartment/condo building. -Access to outdoor environments without a lot of dogs. This could be a home with more distance between houses, a yard with a 6-foot tall privacy fence (he can jump over 4-foot fences), or someone who is willing to go to less busy environments for walks. His foster home is on a walking path with people and dogs passing by but we take him to business developments, schools after hours, roads near the edge of town, cemeteries, and SniffSpots for walks and quality outdoor time. -Someone who can be patient with Dozier and make choices that help him manage his reactivity. The fewer opportunities he has to react, the better. -Someone who is willing to build a strong relationship with Dozier. With the help of anti-anxiety medication and building trust, Dozier's confidence is growing. -Someone who will love him! Dozier has lots of love to give and is such a good, sweet boy!

Story
Hi! I'm Arlo. I'm from Kentucky. From his foster: Arlo is sooo sweet. He is very high energy though! I call him the energizer bunny cause he could go all day, every day. He loves all people, but could be a hazard to small children as he doesn't know his own strength. He's great with other dogs, however is a bit unsure of kitties. Not in a mean or aggressive way, just like a "what the heck" kinda way. He is still learning not to pull on walks, I am currently trying to adjust him to a gentle leader to help with that. I think Arlo would be happiest with another dog sibling, as some things can make him nervous when he's in a new place with new people, & he seems to do well following the cues of my resident dog. Not to mention, its always play time for him! He is crate & potty trained, but the crate isn't his favorite space. However, he is still a pup & tends to chew things up when unsupervised, so he begrudgingly accepts his crate when I have to work or am out, as long as he gets a peanut butter filled bone while in there. Although he is always happy & his tail almost never stops wagging, new people & places can make him nervous & he may submissively pee while he is adjusting if he's nervous but that stops once he is more comfortable.
