DINKLEY - SPRING ADOPTION SPECIAL $50 Dinkley will need a special adopter. Someone that can care for his special needs. He is a 1.5 YRS old, 40 pound catahoula mix. He is very energetic and definitely needs help learning his puppy manners still. He is very, very smart. He enjoys wobble feeders, kongs, and puzzle toys. He has not been formally dog tested yet but we are happy to get that officially done, at a later date. After a few initial barks he settled down during a through-fence meeting. Dinkley is just a baby and deserves to live for as long as his heart will let him. Hopefully, he can live a long life with proper medical care! Dinkley has been diagnosed with possible Pulmonary Stenosis. It is under control and the vet feels he has a full life a head of him. He will need to see the cardiologist probably twice a year for follow up. His adoption fee is $50. Story
We are looking for a new home for Onyx who is 3 years old. Onyx is a fun and active dog. He loves going for walks and playing with other dogs. He does have separation anxiety that he has been prescribed some medications for. He is very friendly although weary when he first meets people but once he has warmed up he will be ready to play for hours. He can be around children but he more so just ignores them. He is good around babies. We are not sure if he gets along with cats though.

Story
Social, curious, cheerful, adaptable, resilient, and incredibly handsome are just a few words to describe one of our newest rescues, Patches. Patch is a very special senior pup searching for a family as exceptional as he is. He came to Pal's Place from an overwhelmed animal control facility in Kentucky. An animal control facility is scary for almost any dog, but can you imagine how much more so for a senior blind dog? It's no secret that we at Pal's Place have a soft spot for seniors and special needs dogs, especially blind ones. As soon as we saw Patch's sweet face, we committed to welcoming him into our foster program. Our distinguished gentleman's age estimate is 10+ years old and weighs just over 50 pounds. We do not know much about his past or how he ended up at the shelter to begin with, but we know his future is bright, and we are committed to finding him the perfect home to spend his golden years in. Patches arrived at Pal's Place with bulging, painfully irritated eyes, and our veterinarian suspects chronic, untreated glaucoma resulted in his loss of vision some time ago. We quickly decided the removal of both of his incredibly painful eyes was needed to provide this sweet boy relief finally and to ensure the remainder of his life would be comfortable and pain-free. Patches underwent double enucleation surgery at the end of November and recovered beautifully and remarkably quickly. He may be blind, but he does not let his disability define him or slow him down one bit! His tail is in constant motion, and his sunny, upbeat, and joyful attitude is contagious. He truly is a delight to be around. Affectionate and friendly by nature, Patch wears his heart on his sleeve. Kisses are freely distributed to all, and despite weighing close to 50 pounds, he identifies as a lap dog and often insists on curling up for a nap on his foster mom's lap. Patch learned his foster home's layout and mastered the stairs in less than two days. He now independently navigates all the stairs in the three-level home and has no trouble finding his way around all three floors. He has learned the word "Step," and it's been incredibly helpful for him in unfamiliar environments with stairs. If he hears that word, he knows there are stairs or a step nearby and will proceed slowly and deliberately, with a bit of guidance from his humans, until he finds them. All Patch needs is a little patience and encouragement when introduced to new environments, but he's very inquisitive, always eager to learn and explore, and is a quick study! Once he is familiar with an environment, you'd never know he was blind. There is not much a sighted dog can do that a blind dog cannot, and most blind dogs do not need any additional or specialized care other than some guidance in new environments. Patch loves chewing on bones, cuddling with his canine foster siblings, walkies, and napping in the sun. He is housebroken, well-behaved in the home, and trustworthy with run of the house when alone. He is generally quiet but can be vocal when he wants or needs something. He will alert you if he needs to go outside and will not let you forget a mealtime! This easy-going, adaptable dude will do well in most environments and be a phenomenal companion for one lucky household. Patch needs a dental cleaning scheduled for the end of February; unfortunately, he has also tested positive for heartworm. Thankfully, he's in the early stages of the heartworm infection and symptom-free. He is expected to make a full recovery after treatment. Once Patch's dental is done, he will be scheduled for the completion of his heartworm treatment. Patch is available for adoption before his dental and heartworm treatment to allow him to begin adjusting to his forever home, provided his adopters agree to bring him back to a partner veterinary clinic of Pal's Place for his remaining medical. Pal's Place will cover the dental and heartworm treatment costs, so there is no additional expense to his adopters other than our standard adoption fee of $275 for senior dogs. Because of this, we can only consider local adoption ( within 50 miles of Chicago) for the being. He's had his senior blood panel (all good!), is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and overall, a hardy, healthy senior fella. All he needs now is a loving, comfortable retirement home to live out his golden years! Patch is fostered in Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Patches's adoption fee is $275. This fee covers any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Patches from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! We are a volunteer-run organization and do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not apply until you are ready to adopt.

Story
Wrangler is being fostered in PA. Wrangler has some limited vision. Wrangler is a sweet 4-month-old Husky/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. His vision isn’t perfect, but he does have some sight. His eyes did not develop properly. But it doesn’t stop him from enjoying life to the fullest. He loves to play with other dogs and loves to cuddle with humans. He would do well in a home with other dogs to play with, and a fenced yard to run around in. Wrangler is a smart puppy and is learning commands quickly. He got a late start at potty training and learning commands but picking things up. He loves toys and nylabones to chew on. He also loves to chew on antlers and anything else hard. Wrangler does not like being left alone in a crate, so he has been sleeping with the other dogs and his foster Mom and doing well. He will sleep through the night with someone in bed. Wrangler will make a wonderful addition to a family and bring lots of laughs and joy and love. He is still growing so has plenty of time to learn so much and become a great dog for a loving family. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
