Introducing Hondo, the loyal and brave companion you've been waiting for! Hondo is a true good boy, showcasing his friendly nature with both people and fellow furry friends. He strikes the perfect balance between confident and respectful, making him a wonderful addition to any household dynamic. While Hondo may be a bit head shy when it comes to leashes, it's a trait rooted in his past experiences - his ears once caused him discomfort. But with patience and understanding, he's slowly overcoming this challenge. This resilience highlights his adaptable nature and willingness to grow. Crate training is a breeze for Hondo, reflecting his cooperative spirit. He's well-versed in the art of sitting and enjoys eating a peaceful meal. These traits make him a joy to train and a promising companion for both new and experienced pet owners. Hondo's ideal home is one that's lively and active, as he thrives in an environment where he can stretch his legs and engage in the joyful act of running. With a strong recall foundation already in place, he's open to further fine-tuning this skill. This warrior-dog's name is music to his ears, and he responds to it with enthusiasm. Though his recall could use a bit more polish, his eagerness to learn shines through. Hondo's adaptable and resourceful nature, coupled with his receptive attitude, make him a loyal partner for all your adventures. If you're seeking a four-legged friend who embodies both resilience and companionship, look no further than Hondo. He's ready to stand by your side and show you the depths of his affectionate heart. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
I have had so many chances in my young life. Seriously...I was found with four siblings at about 2.5 weeks old, dumped in a box at the post office... we were so, so sick and close to death. My rescue mom really worked hard to get us healthy and LIVE. And we did! About 6 weeks later, we all got parvo..... and my rescuer was able to nurse all of us out of it! All my siblings have been adopted, and I am ready too! I am somewhat shy and will take time to settle into my new family. But I will adjust. I am best with another dog, calm and confident, because I will mirror that energy. As a gorgeous catahoula/whippet mix, I have plenty of energy and I love to play! Fetch and chase games are my favorite . I am adoptable in Texas, I need to meet my family and you need to meet me! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX)

Story
Meet Geo! This boy has two speeds... sleep and GO GO GO :) He is an energetic pup and he is a puppy and would be a great great family dog with several kids who will play with him for hours... and hours... and he will wear THEM out too :) Kids need to be older just because he is a BIG boy and plays HARD. Geo has to tell you a couple of things too.... "If you look at the picture of me walking MYSELF on the leash, you will see that I come pre-loaded and ready to hike it all over the place with you :) So, I am a BIG BIG puppy. The rescuers are sure I am a Catahoula mixes with Hound- If you look at my gorgeous markings and the sheer size of my HEAD you will see a truly GORGEOUS boy. And I am like a big teenager, kind of goofy, kind of awkward and kind of cute- with more FEET than head... I am learning all my "good boy" tricks too... SiT, COME and WAIT. I am pretty potty trained, except when I get distracted.... which happens with ADHD puppies. SNIFFING and FETCH are my FUN games. I can't WAIT until you adopt me, so HURRY!!! Oops... hurry and do what?? ADOPT ME!!!" Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Meet Miss Nova!Miss Nova is an adult Catahoula/Rottweiler mix who found herself on borrowed time when her and her sister lost the only home they`ve ever known due to no fault of their own. Luckily, Almost Home Foundation was able to step up and save both of them just in time, but now Miss Nova is looking for a forever home. Miss Nova doesn’t only have beauty, but she has brains too! She knows the commands: sit, down, paw, high-five, and spin (& boy oh boy, does she look adorable doing them)! She is potty trained, crate trained, and rides nicely in the car. She loves humans of all ages and would make the perfect family dog. She is currently fostered with several other dogs and does wonderful with all of them! (She also previously lived with a cat and we believe she could live with a cat again in her forever home). Miss Nova matches other dogs energy levels well and she is a playful girl who would love a playmate in her forever home. Don’t get us wrong though, shes not ALL play. If allowed, Miss Nova will make herself right at home with you on a cozy couch or bed! If there’s zzz’s to catch, she will be sure to catch them! This beautiful girl was saved from euthanasia but her journey isn`t over yet. If you can be Miss Nova`s ‘happily ever after`, please fill out a no-obligation application so a meet and greet can be arranged.

Story
Social, curious, cheerful, adaptable, resilient, and incredibly handsome are just a few words to describe one of our newest rescues, Patches. Patch is a very special senior pup searching for a family as exceptional as he is. He came to Pal's Place from an overwhelmed animal control facility in Kentucky. An animal control facility is scary for almost any dog, but can you imagine how much more so for a senior blind dog? It's no secret that we at Pal's Place have a soft spot for seniors and special needs dogs, especially blind ones. As soon as we saw Patch's sweet face, we committed to welcoming him into our foster program. Our distinguished gentleman's age estimate is 10+ years old, and he weighs just under fifty pounds. We do not know much about his past or how he ended up at the shelter to begin with, but we know his future is bright, and we are committed to finding him the perfect home to spend his golden years in. Patches is entirely blind, but he does not let his disability define him or slow him down one bit! His tail is in constant motion, and his sunny, upbeat, and joyful attitude is contagious. He truly is a delight to be around. Affectionate and friendly by nature, Patch wears his heart on his sleeve. Kisses are freely distributed to all, and despite weighing close to 50 pounds, he identifies as a lap dog and often insists on curling up for a nap on his foster mom's lap. Patch learned his foster home's layout and mastered the stairs in less than two days. He now independently navigates all the stairs in the three-level home and has no trouble finding his way around all three floors. In unfamiliar environments with stairs, he has learned the word "Step". If he hears that word, he knows there are stairs or a step nearby and will proceed slowly and deliberately, with a bit of guidance from his humans, until he finds them. Patch needs a little patience and encouragement when introduced to new environments, but he's very inquisitive, always eager to learn and explore, and is a quick study! Once he is familiar with an environment, you'd never know he was blind. There is not much a sighted dog can do that a blind dog cannot, and most blind dogs do not need any additional or specialized care other than a bit of guidance in new environments. Patch loves chewing on bones, cuddling with his canine foster siblings, walkies, and napping in the sun. He is housebroken and well-behaved in the home and is trustworthy with free run of the home when alone. He is generally quiet but can be vocal when he wants or needs something. He will alert you if he needs to go outside, and he will not let you forget a mealtime 🙂 This easy-going, adaptable dude will do well in most environments and be a phenomenal companion for one lucky household. Patches has painful glaucoma in both eyes, and to provide him with a comfortable and pain-free life, he is scheduled for a double eye enucleation (removal) at the time of his neuter on November 20th. He'll look a bit different than other dogs once his eyes are removed, but he will be pain-free, and that's what matters. Patches also need a dental cleaning and, unfortunately, has also tested positive for heartworm. Thankfully, he's in the early stages of the heartworm infection and symptom-free. He is expected to make a full recovery after treatment. Patch's dental and heartworm treatment will be scheduled once he's fully recovered from his neuter and eye surgery. Patch is available for adoption before his dental and heartworm treatment so he can begin adjusting to his forever home, provided his adopters agree to bring him back to a partner veterinary clinic of Pal's Place for his remaining medical. Pal's Place will cover the dental and heartworm treatment costs, so there is no additional expense to his adopters other than our standard adoption fee of $275 for senior dogs. • Patches is being fostered in Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Patches's adoption fee is $275. This fee covers any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Patches from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! We are a volunteer-run organization and do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not apply until you are ready to adopt.
