Story
Meet Stevie, a sweet and happy 3-year-old spayed female who is looking for a home where she can thrive. Stevie is congenitally blind, with her eyes being deformed and too small, but that doesn`t stop her from being a playful and affectionate companion. She loves people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs in playgroup, where she brings joy to everyone around her. She is also crate trained and house broken. She has also been around kids and loves them. While Stevie is incredibly sweet, her blindness makes her physically vulnerable, so we’ve kept her safe in playgroup settings. She’s a gentle soul who enjoys playtime and loves the company of her fellow dog friends. However, due to her difficulty navigating in the noisy, bustling environment of the kennel, we are seeking a home that can provide her with the calm and quiet space she needs to feel secure.Stevie was originally adopted from us but was returned when she went after a small dog twice. The small dog had been barking at her, and while Stevie did react, no damage was done. Stevie`s blindness makes her more sensitive to unexpected sounds and movements, and we’re confident she would do best in a home where she can have a quiet and predictable environment. We are hoping to find a home who can help her adjust to a more peaceful setting, where she can continue to thrive and be the loving, playful dog she is. She’s a wonderful companion for the right family or individual who understands her needs. Stevie is ready to be loved and to bring joy to your home!If you think you could provide Stevie with the care and attention she needs, please consider adopting her. She`s waiting for a safe and loving environment where she can truly flourish. For more information or to even offer a foster home, please contact us. Let`s give Stevie the second chance she deserves!

Story
Updated 2/2/2025: Jackson is a sweet, silly hound mix. He was born in late June 2022 and has reached his full-grown size at about 75 pounds. We do not know his exact breed mix. The adoption fee for Jackson is $200. He has been neutered and microchipped. He's receiving monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Jackson did fantastic with crate training as he recovered from his neuter. He's quite smart and followed another dog through the doggie door right away. He's friendly and picks up on things quickly. Jackson is patiently waiting for a forever family. He was first listed here in November 2022; he's been in the foster program so long that he recently had another annual exam and received his 3-year rabies and distemper/lepto vaccines. Jackson is a playful, adventurous and athletic pup. He'll need some continued work on leash-walking. (He hasn't had much practice and can be a bit of a bowling ball - but he's certainly willing to learn!) His ideal home would have a large, fenced yard (6-foot) so he can sniff, explore and zoom. (He has not been introduced to young children or cats.) He lives with his sister, Sioux, and can be a bit food aggressive towards her. He might do best as an only dog. There's a video of him romping with 3 of his siblings here: https://youtu.be/BoszRFevA7M (He has one sister, Sioux, who is also still available for adoption.) If you want more information about Jackson, call or text Jody at 352-316-5155 or email her at SCRWestLevy@gmail.com. Thanks for your interest in adopting - and for your patience as we are an all-volunteer rescue! (We do keep our posts current! Sometimes we have to repost a pup when an adoption falls through. Thanks for understanding.) - - - - - PS. Second Chance Rescue posts our pets on AdoptAPet.com.
