I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Tugboat! Tugboat is a friendly and charming Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who is ready to find his forever home. At 3 years old, Tugboat has a mature and mellow demeanor, making him a good companion for anyone looking for a calm and loving dog. Tugboat is deaf, but that doesn't stop him from being a wonderful and capable companion. He is house-trained when given regular access to go outside, ensuring a smooth transition into his new home. He also knows how to sit, lay down, and take treats gently. We got an update from his foster family, and they shared that "Tugboat has been adjusting well! He was clearly trained before, and has been picking up our hand signals quickly. If he could, he would follow you everywhere, and he likes to find a spot to lie down nearby and spend the day with you. He isn’t cuddly in the sense that he will crawl in your lap, but he loves hugs and pats and lying down with you on the couch or bed (though he will go to his bed when asked). He is such a softy! He’s extremely gentle with taking treats, doesn’t rip up his toys, ignores other dog on walks, doesn’t jump, and I’ve only heard him bark once. When he’s really happy he ‘smiles’ or taps his front feet on the ground. He’ll be active when it’s time to go out, and otherwise chills with his people." This sweet boy has a beautiful coat with unique patterns and striking eyes that make him stand out. Tugboat loves to go on leisurely walks, explore new places, and relax by your side. He's affectionate, enjoys being around people, and would thrive in a quiet and patient home where he can receive the attention and care he deserves. He's ready to bring love and joy into your life and will reward you with endless companionship. Follow Tugboat in foster with @theflightynester on Instagram! Story
Charlie would already be adopted if we didn’t already have a full house. He is a fun loving snuggle bug. 🥰 Charlie’s breed is guessed to be cattledog/German Shepherd/Catahoula mix. He is estimated to be approximately seven months old and currently weighs 47 pounds. He will gain several more pounds as he develops. Originally advertised as a female, Charlie was found as a stray and ended up in a Central Valley shelter with a high euthanasia rate. He is a good natured playful, happy, male curious about his surroundings and, typical of a pup, things fall into his mouth. He is easily redirected to appropriate chew toys. Charlie craves the companionship of humans and dogs. He is affectionate with people and plays well with the resident dogs (both male and female) in his foster home Charlie entertains himself with a ball or kong, walks calmly on a leash and is learning the sit and stay commands. He would benefit from basic training to learn other manners (come, down, etc.). Charlie is crate trained and sleeps quietly at night. Charlie does not soil in his kennel and on his way to being fully house trained. Charlie has not been tested with children or cats, however there is no indication that he has any aggressive tendencies. The adoption fee is $350. All Lucky Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, treated to make sure they are flea free, are current on vaccines, and dewormed. A home inspection is required prior to adoption. If you would like more information, email Sue at dogs@s2springer.com. If you decide to e-mail, please tell us a bit about the home that you would provide for him.

Lexi is an awesome dog! She is super friendly, and loyal, bonding quickly to her people. She loves to play a game of fetch, and looks to her people to learn, play, engage and have FUN! Lexi does well with her commands such as sit, lay down, take it and drop it. Because she is a high energy dog she would do best in an active household who have experience with large dogs (she weighs ~55+lbs). She is quite food motivated, so having treats on you would be great, she also loves to learn. SHe is a great hiking, jogging or running partner! Lexi resides with a playmate at our Sanctuary and they come out to go on runs with the side-by-side buggy, she LOVES IT! And there is nothing better than a romp at the creek or at least a dip in the trough/pool! Lexi is a playgirl and a tomboy, she loves affection, playing with people and dogs, loves toys, and being an important part of her people's lives! Lexii loves being the center of attention, and so may be easiest as an only dog in the home, but for dog savvy folks, who engage in training and creating boundaries where needed she can co-house. She is currently taking a break at the Milo Sanctuary and living with three other dogs - happily! She has a beautiful golden, brindle coat and is a nice size, lean and athletic, perfect for wide open spaces and running. ADOPTION FEE: $550

Story
Are you looking for a loyal, fun, eager-to-please adventure buddy? Johnny might be your guy! This gorgeous, intelligent 1-year-old goofball is hoping to learn all about life in a loving, consistent environment. He would thrive in a home with an active adult(s) who will take him for daily hikes/walks/runs. He would also do will with kids over 12, due to his size, energy, and playfulness. This 48-lb. boy is that special combination of whip-smart and sweet, and he bonds to his person quickly. Johnny is still young and very trainable: he knows sit, down, touch, shake, and is eager to add to his repertoire! He is highly food motivated and is looking for a household dedicated to ongoing training and socialization to bring out the best in this boy. Because he is a working breed, his ideal owner would be someone with experience and understanding of dogs who are high drive and could provide him with the physical and mental exercise to keep him happy and healthy. With proper introduction, Johnny gets along with almost every dog that can put up with his high energy. At our facility, Johnny happily plays with several dog friends who match his playfulness and enthusiasm. Johnny is available to foster or adopt, and would love to meet you at our facility in Pt. Richmond.

Story
Bubba truly is the most genial gentle giant. His loving foster family has this summary on him: Bubba is one of a kind. We continue to be impressed with him as he comes out of his shell and gets more comfortable in a home environment. We fall more and more in love with him everyday. While he is large, he is such a good leash walker, always walking slack leash next to you and checking in with you so he's really easy to manage. Unless he sees a squirrel or other darting small creature in which case he can get a little excited - but he responds super well to a bit of verbal correction and redirection. He's been great with my extended family's dogs: 20 lb Chiweenie and 7 lb Terrier mix - both of whom are not fans of big dogs. He's been good with meeting dogs out on leash as well. He loves being near his people and will lean on you to make sure you know he's got you. He doesn't love being left alone for long periods of time - think he would be great for a person or family who either WFH or has someone at home during the day or perhaps another dog companion). He's a very sensitive and intuitive being and quickly picks up on cues and correction. I have been working with him on sitting and waiting before opening doors and for his meals. He absolutely loves going for car rides - jumps right in and settles quickly. He does benefit from a moderate amount of exercise. We have been either doing short runs (1-2 miles), HIkes or multiple walks throughout the day and that's been enough for him. In the house he's very chill and will just find a good spot to lay near you wherever you are. Sometimes he can get underfoot, but he always graciously moves when asked. He loves a soft spot to lay and if you have an elevated chair or bed for him - even better! He also enjoys a good chew toy. We have been slowly socializing him in new environments. 1. We've taken him to several outdoor restaurants with loud music and alot of people - totally fine, in fact he will sometimes lay down and fall asleep! 2. This past weekend he went to a 3 year old birthday party and was a total hit with the kids (and adults!) 3. We went to the Marin Country Mart and he's a great shopping buddy.
