Story
I’ve had Cooper since he was a kitten in 2013. He’s my boy. I love him. But he can be a grumpy old man. He snuggles me all the time and loves to play, he still has the energy and athleticism that he did 10 years ago. However, he can’t be around young children. It stresses him out and he attacks my toddler, completely unprovoked, despite the fact that my kiddo is nothing but sweet and gentle with him. We tried vet visits, extra attention, extra space, etc. and nothing has worked. He gets along fine with dogs, but he does pick on our other cat sometimes. They do snuggle and typically get along though. Ideally, I really think he’d do great in a calm household with no young children where he can relax for his remaining years. I’m very upset that it’s come to this, but I have to put my kiddos safety first. I’m willing to travel to ensure he ends up in a great home. Please feel free to reach out if you or someone you know could provide a loving home for Cooper. Thank you.

Story
Jinx is a skiddish but very cuddly boy. He has food allergies which have not been specifically tested, but he is currently eating tiki brand pâté seafood diet and that seems to work well. Unfortunately he keeps eating food from our other animals so he is still having very bad diarrhea. Would be better suited in a home with 1-2 other cats and maybe a dog, he is NEVER aggressive but very scared of rambunctious animals. He also has a very unique purr, and a unique coat (white undercoat, black/brown overcoat). Please help Jinx find a home that he can feel safer in.

If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hello… I’m Manny, and I’m looking for a new home to call my own. I'm a handsome 10-year-old gent. I'm a Maine Coon mix with soft black fur and the sweetest face you’ve ever seen. Recently, my life has been turned upside down. My beloved human moved into assisted living, and my kitty friends and I found ourselves in an empty house. Luckily, we made it into rescue, but now I’m waiting, hoping someone will open their heart to me. I'm a gentle giant, known for my sweet disposition and love of cuddles. Petting and belly rubs are my absolute favorites, and I'll happily spend most of my time by your side, offering companionship and affection. But what I really want you to know about me is that I’m a love bug. I’m also a great office buddy, so if you need company while you work, I’m your guy. I’m pretty chill, and I’d love a calm, peaceful home where I can relax and feel safe. I'd be fine with older children. I'd be perfectly content getting all your attention and love as your only kitty. And I know my name well, so just call 'Manny' or make a kissy smoochy sound and I’ll come trotting over, ready for cuddles. If you're looking for a loving and loyal companion to share your days with, I would be honored to be part of your family. Please consider giving me a chance to bring joy and warmth into your home. With love and soft purrs,Manny PS. I've already had my dental! If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. May 3, 2025, 2:28 pm

I’m a sweet, shy kitten looking for my forever home, and I’m hoping you’ll consider adopting me along with my brother, Howl. We’re an inseparable pair, and we’d be overjoyed to share our lives with you. At first, I might seem a bit reserved and shy, but it only takes me a few days to warm up to new people. If you approach me slowly and gently, I’ll start to feel safe and let you pet me! Food is definitely the way to my heart, so a little treat goes a long way in making friends with me. Once I’m comfortable and know I can trust you, I’ll come right up for cuddles. I love making biscuits on your lap and lying on the couch with you. I’m also a big fan of climbing and being up high, so you’ll often find me lounging on the tallest platform of our cat tree at home. I’m the SOFTEST kitty you’ll ever meet, and I absolutely adore other cats. My brother, Howl, and I are incredibly close. We snuggle and play together all day long, and I can’t imagine life without him. We truly make the perfect pair and bring so much joy to each other. I’m really hoping to find my forever home soon, and it would mean the world to me if I could find a home with you—and with Howl. We’re both affectionate and playful, and we promise to fill your days with love, laughter, and endless purrs. Thank you for considering giving us a chance. We can’t wait to become a part of your family and share our lives with you! Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi… I’m Travers. I’m a quiet girl with soft fur and a soft heart. For almost six years, I’ve had one constant in my life — my brother, Nimbus. He’s the orange one who talks a lot and always charges ahead to try new things first. Me? I hang back. I watch. I follow. I trust him. We’ve never been apart. Not once. We sleep curled up together. We share our food. We groom each other’s ears. He’s my brave half — I’m his gentle one. But now… our world is changing. The only home we’ve ever known is going away. We don’t understand why. We didn’t do anything wrong. By mid-June, we need to find a new home… or we’ll have nowhere to go. I’m scared. I won’t lie. But I’ll be okay — as long as Nimbus is with me. He’s always been the outspoken one — the first to ask for pets, the one who wants affection all day long. I ask too, when I’m ready and let you love me. I’ll purr and sit near you and follow you around the house, just like I follow Nimbus. I'm sweet, sweet, sweet! Please… we don’t want much. Just a quiet home, a warm lap, and each other. We’re not kittens anymore. We’re calm. We’re loving. We’re sweet in that gentle, grown-up kind of way. But if we lose each other, I don’t know who I’ll be. Please… don’t let us be separated. Don’t let us disappear. Let us stay together, and we’ll be the most loyal, grateful cats you’ve ever known. With quiet hope,Travers & Nimbus Must be adopted together — home needed by mid-June*GUEST POSTING* If you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hello there. My name is Gizmo, and yes — I’m aware I’m a little… voluptuous. I prefer the term “luxuriously fluffy” or “extra huggable,” but either way, I am what I am: a big baby in every sense of the word. I’m 7 years young, and right now, my world is turning upside down. I’m losing my home — not because I did anything wrong, but because sometimes life just isn’t fair. I need to find a new family, a safe and loving lap (or two) by mid-June. And if you’ve ever seen a cat worry, trust me… I’m worrying. I love to eat (obviously), play (yes, I still chase toys, thank you), and then repeat the process. I’m a professional lounger. A lap aficionado. A champion purr machine. I get along with other kitties and dogs just fine, but my dream is to have a home — and a human — all to myself. Someone who will adore me, feed me snacks, and tell me how cute I am 47 times a day. Now, I do have a brother named Simon. He’s a big, fluffy orange goofball. Very chill. He’s the kind of guy who could be happy just about anywhere — but me? I’m a little more particular. Still, if there’s room in your heart (and your lap), I wouldn’t mind bringing Simon along. He’s always been there with me. I just ask that, if we come as a pair, there are multiple laps available at all times. Please… I don’t want to be left behind. I’ve got so much love to give and so many snuggles to share. I just need someone to give me a chance. Love (and snacks),Gizmo Needs a home by mid-June — preferably with Simon, but definitely with love.*GUEST POSTING* If you would like to meet your new best friend(s), contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830.
