Story
Adam and his sister Eve came to us when their owner moved and was unable to bring them along. Both are sweet, shy older cats in need of a quiet adult home with no other animals. They definitely don’t consider the shelter environment their “garden of Eden.” Perhaps your home is. To help them find their way back to the garden they are both considered “Underdogs.”Underdogs are pets with behavioural concerns that will require patience and understanding from their adopter. This includes cats who are shy and need time to come out of their shell, or who may be overlooked because of their age. For pets in this program you get to choose your own adoption fee. Come meet me at Yay for Strays Cafe starting March 11th!

Story
Billy was brought in as a stray, who wasn`t feeling well. Our medical team helped get him back to health, and he is now looking for his forever home. You`ll notice that he isn`t one for bragging about how good looking he is, this boy is shy! He is not quite used to humans, so he would appreciate a patient human who will let him lead the relationship. We`d like to mention Billy is considered a Special Paws adoption, which means I do have medical needs that need tending to. Billy is FeLV positive, an IDEXX FIV/FeLV test was performed in shelter using whole blood, and a positive FeLV test result was noted. Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) can significantly compromise the immune system, so routine preventive healthcare is important. Infected felines often have a shorter than average lifespan, though can live a relatively normal life for a period of time. There are many ways that FeLV adversely affects a cat, most commonly including; cancer, blood disorders, and overall immunodeficiency. It is important that any medical concerns are promptly addressed with a veterinarian. The primary mode of transmission for FeLV is through bite wounds, mutual grooming, and (rarely) through the use of shared litter boxes and feeding dishes. Since this condition can be easily transmitted to other cats, those testing positive should be housed only with those who have also tested positive. Rarely, false positive tests can occur. If a cat has been vaccinated against FeLV we would not see a false positive result. It is recommended that you follow up with your primary care veterinarian to establish a preventive healthcare plan post adoption! But because of this, his adoption fee is totally up to you!

Story
Oh um hello, they call me Annabel around here. I am a reserved lady who is in need of a furever home for myself and my longtime friend Angel. I am nervous in new environments and Angel does her best to push through her own fears to make me feel safe, due to the nature of our relationship we must go to our new home together. It is going to take us both some time to get out of our shells, but with your unconditional love and patience we are sure to get there. Once i`m settled into my space I love to be scratched on the head and neck and will need patient adopters to help me get there. We are going to be best suited for an adult home environment where our body language can be read and respected.

Story
UPDATE: Jack has come a long way! He`s still not a lap cat and he cherishes his independence, but after being given a larger space, he`s come out of his shell! He is still a `Working Whisker` but he is ok with some pets. He`s become a staff favourite for his independent nature and his curious heart.Hello, I`m Jack. I`m a bit on the shy side, but don`t let that deter you. You see, I`m what the humans here like to call `spicy` meaning I prefer to do my own thing and would rather chase mice than sit on laps. But I still need a place to call home, so what do you say? *All of our `working whiskers` cat are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and vet checked. You are responsible for providing a safe and suitable living environment, food, water and veterinary care as required. Since he is a `Working Whiskers` pet, you get to choose your own adoption fee.

Story
Meet Phoebe, a cat who thrives on curiosity and adventure. Despite her mellow nature, she`s always the first to bravely explore new nooks and crannies. Phoebe may be shy at first, but she warms up quickly to human companionship, appreciating gentle strokes and quiet conversations. However, she`s not a fan of dogs and would prefer a home without them. Phoebe`s unique blend of bravery and tranquility, coupled with her endearing shyness, makes her a charming companion. Her curious nature will fill your home with joy and her mellow demeanor will provide a calming presence. If you`re looking for a brave explorer and a quiet confidante, then Phoebe could be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Hi there, my name is Sasha. I am an independent and laid back guy who is in need of a furever home, think you could help with that? I like to spend a lot of my free time lounging around the house and ultimately curling up in the coziest sot that I can find. I love to be greeted when you pass by me and adore having my head scratched whenever you have the time. I will turn into a purring machine when i`m having a good time and can`t wait to soak up all of your unconditional love! I am a special paws adoption, which means I do have medical needs that need tending to. I am obese and will need to start my weight loss journey, but because of this, my adoption fee is totally up to you!
