Story
"Welcome back, friends. I am Star. I came to KLAWS in July 2023 with an estimated date of birth of April 7, 2023. I love to play with and chase all my furry foster friends around the house. How else are we supposed to use up all our energy? I am not a fan of playing rough, though, so when the boys start to get rough, I sit out and snuggle with my foster mom. I would love to have a furry friend in my forever home to keep me company while the humans are away." Our pets need their own safe space for the first little while to help them become familiar with their new surroundings (environment, smells, sounds, people, pets, etc) to be successful and comfortable in their forever home. Please send an email to 4klaws@gmail.com if you have any questions or are ready to welcome Star into your furever family. Adoption Fee: $200 (includes deworm, deflea, vaccinations, microchip, spay) To help us find Star a purrfect family, please care and share 🙏🏻🐾❤️ 🐾If you are able to foster for KLAWS, please email 4klaws@gmail.com to request an application. Help us help those in need🐾 #4klaws #4klawskitties #4klawsfosters #adoptdontshop #spayneuter #rescuesareworthit Until there’s none, rescue one 🙏🏼🐾♥️ *All KLAWS kitties are required, by signed contract, to be indoor only and not declawed. Story
"Hello my fellow KLAWS supporters, I am Bean. I came to KLAWS in May 2024 with an estimated date of birth of April 21, 2024. I am always so busy my foster has a hard time getting good pictures of me!! If there is a new sound I am unsure of, I still get a bit scared but we are working on it. I love my food!! My foster says I am a real foodie 😋 I love to play with toys and I will carry them around calling for someone to share it with and show it off. I love to be with the other foster and resident cats. If I can't find them, I will call for them until I do. With this said, I would love to have a furry friend in my forever home to help keep me company when the humans are away." KLAWS suggests that kittens go in pairs, or at least a home with friendly fur friends (dogs or cats), they can bond with when the humans are away. Our pets need their own safe space for the first little while to help them become familiar with their new surroundings (environment, smells, sounds, people, pets, etc) to be successful and comfortable in their forever home. Please send an email to 4klaws@gmail.com if you have any questions or are ready to welcome Bean into your furever family. Adoption Fee: $250 (includes deworm, deflea, vaccinations, microchip, spay) To help us find Bean a purrfect family, please care and share 🙏🏻🐾❤️ 🐾If you are able to foster for KLAWS, please email 4klaws@gmail.com to request an application. Story
Meet Bella!Bella is a cat whose spirit is as large as her size! her friendliness shines through every interaction, winning over the hearts of everyone she meets and which instantly made her a favourite among the shelter staff. Her sweet demeanor is complemented by a independent streak, making her a delightful companion who doesn`t require constant attention. Bella`s loyalty is unquestionable, always there to offer her comforting purrs and gentle presence. However, Bella prefers to be the only animal in the household, relishing in the undivided attention and love of her human companions. Bella is not just a cat, she`s a friend, a confidante, and a loyal companion. If you`re interested in meeting this lovely lady or have any questions, give us a call at 705-878-4618, send an email to info@hskl.ca or stop by during our open hours.

Story
Meet Mr. Bojangles – He Definitely Dances to the Beat of His Own Drum First spotted back in November looking like he’d just walked off the set of a feline fashion disaster, Mr. Bojangles was strutting around with what turned out to be a bag wrapped tightly around his neck. While it looked like an odd accessory, it was actually dangerous—and this clever cat wasn’t about to make rescue easy.Neighbors tried. They really tried. But Mr. Bojangles had ninja-level evasion skills. Parkour over fences. Stealth mode under porches. Blink and he was gone. Finally, in late January, a determined family earned his trust and safely removed the bag—only to discover it had cut deeply into his neck and armpit. He came into our care for treatment, and we promised him no more plastic accessories ever again. Now healing and safe, Mr. Bojangles is learning that not all humans are the enemy. He’s still cautious—more of a “watch from a distance and judge your life choices” kind of guy—but the walls are slowly coming down. And surprisingly? He seems to have a soft spot for kids. He’s not going to leap into your arms or snuggle under your chin on day one. Let’s be real—he’s got some baggage (literally and emotionally). But there’s a gentle, trusting soul under all that street smarts. He’s not looking for a flashy adopter—just someone patient, kind, and willing to give him the time he needs to feel safe. Mr. Bojangles is proof that even the most guarded hearts can learn to love again. He’s been through it, but he’s still standing. And with the right person? He just might dance again.
