Story
Hi, I’m Misha! I was found abandoned at a car lot and brought to HART as a young kitten. I’m a one year old tuxedo female with the cutest black dot on my nose. I’m still learning to trust people, but I LOVE other cats, especially bigger ones that I can curl up with, or smaller ones that I can play with. I’ve made a lot of progress with my foster family, but my forever family will need to be patient with me. There are a couple people in my foster family that I trust completely, and I’m happy to let them pet me or pick me up. Sometimes I get scared and run away, but I ALWAYS come back out when I hear my food being poured! I would love to be adopted into a house with other cats/kittens. If you don’t already have one at home I have some younger friends from my foster home that I can recommend! All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative. If you are interested in any of our kitties, you must complete an online cat adoption application available at www.rescueahart.org/adopt/cat-application. The application will put you in touch with a HART volunteer. Thanks!

Story
Meet Rubie! Rubie was found by a HART foster under her 85 year old neighbors deck with five - four week old kittens. She took very good care of them and kept them safe. Rubie is just 10 months old, having babies of her own. Well, no more babies for Rubie. Once mama was no longer nursing she was fully vetted and spayed. She is now ready to enjoy being her own kitten again, and steal her way into your heart and home. Rubie is very sweet and loving she enjoys being petted and sitting on your lap, and loves watching the birds out the window. She is shy at first but will warm up quickly, she deserves a great forever home. Rubie should be fine around other cats, with proper introduction. She would do well around older children who respect her space, rather than little ones who might like to grab. She hasn't been tested around dogs, that we are aware of. Meet Samurai - Courtesy Post Only Samurai courtesy listing: Sam is a friendly, affectionate, and playful survivor! He is 7 years old, neutered (male), microchipped, and current with vet care. Only adopters willing to keep his nails and keep him indoors will be approved. Sam does great with his litter box and scratching post and is easy to care for. Sam’s special needs include yearly dental cleaning and x-rays (he required a root canal to save a broken canine tooth - the dentist doesn’t foresee future issues), over the counter sensitive skin kibble due to sensitive skin in his mouth from past trauma, and only using metal bowls for his food and water. Sam enjoys all the attention his foster family is giving him, but would like a family of his own. He enjoys to travel (no problem going into a cat carrier). He might also make a good therapy cat if you're looking for that special social kitty. Call or text 812.560.8071 for more information regarding adopting Samurai. References and home visit required prior to adoption. This kitty is not in HART's care. Call or text the phone number above directly for questions or more information.

Story
Meet Oliver! Oliver was found huddled on the side of the road with another cat (Annie). A good Samaritan stopped to help him and then called HART. When he came into the foster home he was terrified and hungry. He needed a safe quiet space to decompress and adjust to regular food and water. After a few weeks, he started to play with his foster family! Oliver was still very scared and would run if you moved too quickly but he was making progress and feeling more comfortable. We found out the quickest way to his heart is through treats! He can't get enough and will come running to you to get more! We have had him in foster care for a few months now, and there is a huge difference from when he first came to us! Oliver takes a little bit to warm up but will come out of his shell fairly quickly to get treats and to play! He loves wand toys and shoe strings best. He doesn't mind being brushed but generally takes pretty good care of his grooming needs. He will butt his head into your hand and enjoys full back scratches all the way to the tip of his amazing tail. He is pretty curious and likes to explore and see what's going on. Oliver can be vocal at times and sounds like he is asking questions while he walks around, though his meow is not super loud. Oliver does well with the resident cats and doesn't mind the resident dog either (though he is pretty calm and very good with cats). I don't believe he would do well in a home with small children since he is easily scared by sudden movements and noises. I think he will do best in a calm, quiet home where he is given time to adjust. Oliver would love a home with another friendly cat(s). He really enjoys being with other animals and learning from them. He is always rubbing his head against the resident cats and playing with the other foster kittens! Oliver is a pretty low maintenance cat and will make a great companion! Oliver is around 1-2 years old and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Story
Meet Rascal! My name is Rascal. I am the biggest of my siblings. I am learning to be held and be around people. I am a little shy but I do like to be held. I am the instigator of the group, I like to run and chase with my siblings after all of our toys. I will do best in a home with another cat or one of my siblings. I'm not good round small children. My siblings and I were found in my foster mom's complex under her 85 year old neighbor's deck She was trying the best she could to feed us but she is handicapped. My foster mom stepped up and trapped my mom and all five of us kittens. Once mom could be separated she was vetted /spayed and is ready for her forever home. She took very good care of us during our first 4 weeks of life until my foster mom stepped in. My foster mom took very good care of us got us the vetting needed, and when we were big enough we were spayed and neutered now we are ready for our forever home. HART recommends kittens 6 months of age and younger be adopted in pairs.
