Meet Sawyer! This cutie was brought in as a injured stray. Now that he is feeling better he is ready to find his forever home.Upon arrival, a routine blood test showed a positive result for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is a virus that causes a weakening of the cat`s immune system. There is no cure or treatment for FIV. FIV+ cats can live a normal life, both in quality and duration, but routine preventative care will be important since they are immune-compromised. FIV can be transmitted to other cats at birth, or through deep bites/scratches during fighting. It is not contagious to people or dogs. Since FIV can be transmitted to other cats, any positive cats should be very carefully and gradually introduced to any households with FIV negative cats to minimize the risk of transmission, or live either as the only cat or with other FIV+ cats. I was found as a stray with my brother and we are ready to find our furever home! We can be a little bashful at first and will need a patient family who will give us time to come out of our shell. Once we are comfortable, we are very affectionate lap cats! When we are feeling playful we love playing with stuffed mice, plastic balls, and wand toys (my favorites are water bottle caps!)
