Story
Lucy is a sweet and gentle brown tabby with a hint of orange, looking for her forever home. She was adopted as a kitten alongside her brother, Lucky, and the two have been a bonded pair ever since. Unfortunately, due to allergies, their current owner can no longer keep them, and now Lucy is ready to start a new chapter with a loving family.Lucy is a little shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she is incredibly affectionate and loving. She`s a calm and quiet soul who enjoys lounging in cozy spots and watching the world around her. With her soft, short coat and beautiful markings, she’s as sweet on the outside as she is on the inside. Lucy is also front-declawed, so she’s used to an indoor-only lifestyle and is looking for a peaceful, safe environment where she can feel comfortable and loved.Though she may take a little time to warm up, Lucy`s gentle nature and tender purrs will make you fall in love. She’s the kind of cat who’ll appreciate your company and find joy in being near you, whether it`s curling up by your side for a nap or watching you from her favorite perch.Lucy and her brother Lucky are a perfect pair—they’re both friendly, sweet, and affectionate—and they would love to stay together in their new home. If you’re looking for a pair of lovely, low-maintenance cats who will bring quiet joy and companionship to your life, Lucy (and Lucky!) might be just what you`re looking for.Are you ready to give Lucy and Lucky the home they deserve? Reach out today to meet this special pair of kitties! If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.Our adoption fee is $75 for both of us!

Lucky is a charming, curious, and affectionate black short-haired cat who`s looking for a new forever home. He and his sister, Lucy, were adopted together as kittens and have been inseparable ever since, so they`d love to find a home where they can stay together. Unfortunately, due to allergies, their current owners are unable to keep them, and now Lucky is ready to find a family that can give him all the love and attention he deserves.Lucky is a sweet, friendly boy who loves to explore and interact with people. He`s always curious about what`s going on around him and is quick to make new friends. Whether it`s a new toy, a cozy spot on the couch, or just a warm lap to curl up in, Lucky is always up for an adventure. He`s a front-declawed cat, so he’s used to being indoors and is looking for a safe, loving environment where he can feel comfortable and secure. Despite this, Lucky is very playful and enjoys his fair share of fun and games—whether it’s chasing a feather toy or watching the world go by from a window perch.Lucky and Lucy make a perfect pair, and if you`re looking for two wonderful, low-maintenance, and affectionate cats to add to your home, this duo would be an amazing addition. They’re both super sweet, easy-going, and just want to share their love with their new family. If you`re ready to offer a loving home to these two adorable siblings, contact us today and meet Lucky (and Lucy!)—your new best friends. ??If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.Our adoption fee is $75 for both of us!

Story
Meet Mista Jay!Get ready for a sad story! Mista Jay was found abandoned in his carrier at a vet`s office in northern Macomb County. At 9 years old, you can imagine how scary it was for him to be put in that circumstance. His owner left a note saying he was current on vaccines and that they could no longer care for him and hoped a good home could be found for him. Mista Jay was microchipped, but unfortunately the chip was never registered, so we were never able to make contact with his owner.Since being at MCAC, Mista Jay has been sad, confused, depressed and a little grumpy at times while he waited for his stray time to be done so he could be put up for adoption. Mista Jay is now ready to find his furever retirement home. He is a special adoption as he does have some quirky personality traits that make it really important that we find just the right fit for him.Based on our interactions with him from staff & volunteers we believe he would do best as a solo kitty in the home. We are looking for a cat savvy adopter that understands cat behaviors well and can tell when a cat wants to be left alone. Mista Jay loves head & chin scratches, and will seek you out when he wants attention. He loves to come sit in one of our cat volunteers laps when she spends time with him. But when he is done with cuddles he is done and will then need some alone time perched on a cat tree or another comfy spot in the home. He gives pretty clear `clues` as to being done with his ears and his tail that his adopter would need to be aware of, and respect his boundaries. He doesn`t seem interested in toys, but maybe with time he may change his mind about them.Mista Jay`s ideal home is a kid free zone where he can feel loved and secure again after his ordeal. He would prefer to be the only pet in the home. If you think you have the perfect home for Mista Jay to live out his golden years, come and meet him Mon-Fri between 10-4. You can fill out an application online here:https://www.macombgov.org/departments/animal-control/adoption-applicationMista Jay`s adoption fee is $25

Story
Hello, I’m Darla, a sleek black beauty with a mysterious past and a keen sense of adventure! I was discovered at a storage facility, so exploring is in my nature—any nook, cranny, or cozy hideaway has my full attention. I`m endlessly curious and always on the lookout for the next spot to inspect, making me the perfect partner for anyone who appreciates a cat with a bit of an independent streak.I’m a confident cat who knows what I want: a cozy home where I’m the center of attention! I prefer to be the only animal in the household—no dogs or other cats, please. This way, I can give you all the love and charm you need without any distractions. I can be social when the mood strikes, and I love engaging with my humans, especially when there`s a treat or a fun toy involved. But I also enjoy my solo time, often getting lost in thought while watching the world outside or checking out a new corner of the house.I’m looking for a place where I can be the only furry friend, as I`m happiest being the star of the show. A home where I can feel secure, loved, and entertained with some quality window views or climbing spots would be perfect. Since I have a curious spirit, I would love some cat trees, scratching posts, and toys to keep me busy—and maybe a few secret spots to call my own. With my inquisitive nature and independent charm, I’m sure to bring a bit of mystery and adventure into your home. I’ll be your loyal companion who will always be there to greet you (and inspect anything you bring home!). If you’re ready for a unique, one-and-only cat to fill your home with personality and affection, I’m here waiting to be your forever friend. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.
