Story
Meet Winifred, a young feline with a heart full of love. Despite her shy demeanor, she's incredibly sweet and friendly. Her gentle nature is soothing, making her the perfect companion for quiet nights in. Winifred is FIV+, which means she has a weakened immune system. Winifred will need someone to keep up with her yearly vet checkups to make sure any concerns are caught early. Research shows that FIV cats may have a similar life expectancy to uninfected cats. Winifred doesn't let FIV+ slow her down, she is happy and healthy even with FIV+. She's a purr machine, her loud, clear purrs can turn any bad day around. Winifred thrives in the company of other cats, her gentle nature allowing her to get along well with others. Other cats make her feel more confident and secure. Winifred will need a home with another kitty friend. Her sisters Sarah and Mary are available if you have room in your home and heart for two. With her fluffy, soft coat, she's a joy to cuddle with. Winifred's gorgeous spirit shines through in everything she does. She should be adopted because she has so much love to give. She just needs someone to give a shy cat a chance. Her quiet, gentle nature would make her the perfect addition to any family willing to give her the love and patience she deserves. Winifred is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org. Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. Story
Melanie is a beautiful 9-year-old medium haired tortoiseshell-tabby kitty looking for her forever home. Her favorite activities are looking out the window, laying in boxes, and chasing after toys. She also loves to try to eat people food, especially stroganoff and anything cheesy. Her fosters are honored that she likes their cooking!! But it is in Melanie's best interest to only eat cat food. Melanie is a playful girl and an excellent jumper. She can jump up to every window in her foster house! She likes to play with toy mice, and play "soccer" with whiffle balls. She keeps her area very neat and tidy - despite being fluffy, she isn't a big shedder. And she gives the best headbutts! When she wants to show she loves you, she rubs up on your legs or gives a little 'bonk'. If you become one of her select favorite people, she'll sit on your lap too. Melanie loves meeting new people, she's not one to hide. While she can be very sweet and affectionate, she doesn't usually like to be pet because she can become overstimulated. She gives clear warning signs when she wants to be left alone, but she will nip or smack if you don't respect her limits. Before she was rescued, Melanie was left outside when her old family moved away. She has a severe flea allergy and needs to stay on flea preventative in her forever home. Melanie had full senior bloodwork done, and she is in great health. Melanie is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. Story
Meet Alexis! She's a little couch potato ready to find her forever home. She is gentle and cuddly. She likes other cats, and she is super interested in dogs (not scared!). She LOVES to snuggle on the couch. Alexis is a tabby girl cutie with a white face. She was born with eye defects that required surgery and medication, but now she is feeling much better! She has a permanent vision impairment, which causes her to get nervous with quick movements. Her eyes look a little different, and sometimes they get watery. We posted baby pictures of her, so you can see her glow-up! Alexis is a beacon of perseverance, not letting her eye defect dim her vibrant personality. She's different, but in the best way. Alexis shows she loves you by trying to groom you. She wonders...why do humans have such long fur on their heads??? Alexis is friends with ALL her foster buddies. She would love to find a family that could adopt her with one of her foster friends. If not, she would need a home with a friendly cat. Alexis relies on other cats to help her feel safe. She's a testament to the power of love and resilience. Alexis deserves a forever home where her loving nature can truly shine, where she can be the cherished companion she was born to be. Adopt Alexis, and let her love change your life. Alexis is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. Story
Wynkin and Blynkin are 2 year old bonded siblings. Wynkin is the larger of the two and a boy. Blynkin is the more petite of the two and is a girl. They were found outside with their mom as kittens. Luckily a kind person found them and got them to a foster home. These two are very sweet and loving - to others and especially each other. Both of them have super soft and sleek black coats and gorgeous amber eyes. They love a good snuggle! They would do best in a home with no other cats. They tend to get dominated and become timid around other cats. They have grown up with smaller dogs and love them! They are friendly and would do well in quiet household with someone that can boost their confidence. If you are looking for two loving souls who want snuggle up and relax with you, Wynk and Blynk are a great pick! Wynkin and Blynkin are currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting them, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens.
