Alex is the classic lazy bum of a cat. She enjoys being in the same room as her humans, but rarely seeks affection, however she will purr loudly if you come to her and enjoys being brushed. Her favorite thing is a cozy spot to curl up and nap in. A soft blanket, cat tree cubby or your latest Amazon box, she’s not choosy. Alex is good with kids, ignores dogs of any size, and does not seem to have fear of anything. She will hiss at other cats, but eventually comes around and either ignores them or becomes friends. It’s a toss up. While chill in almost every regard, Alex does have some food issues from her prior life as a street cat. She is about 6 years old and spent the first year and a half living rough. This causes her to habitually over eat (and then vomit) if food is not restricted. When food is restricted Alex will seek out human food, and any left unsecured will be sampled regardless of packaging.

Meet Diesel! Diesel came to Ahimsa 4 years ago, after being trapped living outside with a feral colony near Jasper, MI. Turns out, he LOVES humans! He follows staff everywhere, looking for pets and attention. He also loves cuddles and will jump right in your lap! Diesel is having a hard time finding his forever home as he will sometimes nip, swat, or bite- when playing or when upset. The rest of the time he is a total lovebug- he even likes being picked up and carried around like a baby! All Diesel really wants is a human of his own to love on all day! Diesel would do best in a home without young kids and preferably as the only kitty- as he does tend to like being the “boss”. Meet Snap! I was found dumped outside in an opened cage along with 6 other cats back in 2022. Nowadays, I’m the friendliest cat here, who asks anyone and everyone for pets and, even, kisses. I’ll meow for more or even come jump on your lap if it’s available! I am feline herpesvirus positive, which is not fatal and easily managed. I often get conjunctivitis and need my eyes wiped but I don't usually require any regular medication. There is nothing Snap would love more than to have a person to call his own! He is friendly with other cats, but could also be a great solo-kitty. Most importantly, Snap would do best in a home with someone to give him a bunch of love and attention that he so deserves. Meet Pi! I am a super energetic young man. I love to play and I love other kitties! I was rescued when I was only a few months old, living outside, in the cold start of winter. Even when I was I little, I loved to play with the big cats and I do sometimes even play a little too rough with them. I currently reside at a foster home.. with a dog! We are not best friends but I’ve learned he’s not so bad and we do occasionally hangout together. Mostly though, I’d love a home with other kitty friends to play with! Meet Crackle! I am the most happy and friendly kitty you will ever meet! I love humans and I love being held. In my perfect world I would just sit on someone’s lap and be pet all day! I am a diabetic and I do require insulin shots twice a day, 12 hours in between doses. I am such a good kitty, though, I will be rolling on my belly for pets while getting my shot! I also eat special prescription diabetic canned and kibble food to help maintain my sugar levels. Crackle is the sweetest boy you could ever imagine, all he wants is love! He would do best in a home that is not too busy and with someone to give him the time and attention he so deserves! *Crackle’s diabetes can be maintained and he can lead a happy, long life. Meet Johnny! I came to Ahimsa in 2017 when I was pulled from a euthanasia list at a high-kill shelter. Everyone here loves me for my big green eyes and my loud meows! Every day I stand at the window meowing at staff to come in and pet me! After that, I will follow them around, room to room, just see what they’re up to! Johnny has really blossomed over the last couple years and is starting to love human attention. However, he will sometimes run and hide (or stay hidden) with new people. We expect it may take extra time in a new home for him to become completely comfortable again. He would do well as a solo-kitty or with very friendly other pets in the home!
