Story

Akbar is a sweet 7-year-old boy whom I've owned for the last 4 years. He is snuggly, very vocal, loves to play or just lay the day away in your lap or on top of you however he can manage. Unfortunately, as he and my other male cat age, they are getting along less and less, and Akbar has developed a medical issue that despite diagnostics I have been unable to get to the bottom of and am unable to mitigate the symptoms nor afford more diagnostics. He drinks, eats and urinates excessively (but doesn't have accidents outside the litterbox) and is extremely food obsessed to the point of mild destruction, but was also food obsessed prior to this medical issue developing. He is crafty and a high-jumper, and incredibly stubborn, so definitely needs an adopter who is experienced with cats who will do just about anything for a morsel of food. He doesn't mind dogs (usually runs away or ignores them), would do best if other cats were female, and has never bitten, scratched, or swatted a human.

Hi! Meet Salt! Salt is an adorable little tuxedo boy who is dressed to impress! This guy may still be a young but he’s a calm and mellow cat. Don’t get me wrong, he does like to play, but he’s also happy just snuggling and cuddling. He can be just a tad shy at first, but comes out of his shell quickly. He enjoys the company of his sister (Snowflake) and other cats but is content being an only kitty as well. He has very good litter manners and is really great about not destroying the house like most kittens (except when it comes to toilet paper rolls because that temptation is just too much). Please be aware that Salt, like all the Furever Home cats, is FeLV positive. Therefore, he can not live in a household with FeLV negative cats. This amazing mini-panther is such a sweetheart, and the perfect age. He’s young enough to still love his toys, but old enough so he won’t pull your curtains down and destroy your world. He’s a sweet & cuddly guy who adapts well. He’s very vocal and will have full out conversations with you. He’ll also remind you when you’re late with dinner. He has perfect cat etiquette and uses his litter box. His favorite hobbies include bathing in sunbeams, laying across your shoulders while binging on the Nature Channel, snuggling you in bed and head butting. Meet Minion! Don’t let this RBF fool you… this guy is pure love! Which is quite surprising considering the tragic condition in which he was found. He was rescued from the streets of NY after having been hit by a car. His would was too severe to repair and he later had his back leg amputated at the hip. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he was diagnosed with both FIV and FeLV. After healing from that, he had to have the majority of his teeth pulled. But Minion has a fighter’s spirit and none of that has held him back. He is pure energy and a lover. He LOVES to play and run just like any other able bodied cat. He is a curious and outgoing guy who loves his people. He comes with a 100% guarantee to put a smile on your face! Since he is a bit clumsy, he can be a bit messy with the litter box. He requires and oversized box, or better yet, a box in a bathtub (which is his preference). He is also a tad messy when he eats due to his lack of teeth so best to use a heavy feeding and water bowl – ceramic works great – so it stays steady as he pigs out. He would do best in a home with no young children. He gets along fine with calm dogs. He will tolerate other cats (but they must be FeLV+) but prefers to be the center of your devotion. Who says you don’t get second chances in life? That’s certainly not true for this sweet older lady. We don’t know much about her back story, but what we do know is that somehow she found herself alone on the streets of Baltimore. She was taken to Baltimore Animal Control, where everyone there immediately fell in love with her. As stressful as it must have been to lose her home, be kicked out on the street and then wind up at a busy shelter, her wonderful disposition just shined right through. She absolutely adores people and was a well loved pet at one point. She can’t get enough of being petted and receiving belly rubs. She is an easy going ol’ gal and gets along fine with other cats and animals. She’s extremely adaptable. She has perfect litter box skills and manners. She’s not one to climb up curtains or scratch on furniture. Her favorite thing in the world is just to snooze next to her person. She does have a playful side, but in general she’s a very calm girl. Just an all around sweetheart. She will make a new family very happy. Like all Furever Home cats, Uni is FeLV positive.
