Story
She is a great cat, however her and our other female do not get along so we really feel that she needs to go to a single cat home and stay in a single cat home. She's very sweet with people, she's very gentle, we also have a child and two dogs she's never had any problems with them, she's never had any problems with our boy cats either. She loves being indoors or outdoors. She likes to be pet but not particularly fond of being picked up but will tolerate it. She's also shy so she may hide or run in the beginning but she will warm up to you.

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---- Laid back, independent girl who enjoys being with her humans- Is a very happy kitty who purrs a lot- Enjoys sleeping next to her humans, but she is not a super cuddly cat, or really a lap cat- Loves scratches on her head, neck, ears and chin- An adorably round, big-boned chonk!- When she is extra comfortable, she loves to show her belly, and she actually loves belly pets and armpit scratches!-She is very chirpy and vocal and asks "what are we doing today?", when her humans are up in the morning - Enjoys playing with toy balls, laser pointers, catnip and feather toys on strings and little mouse toys to hunt - Loves to climb up high in her kitty tree - she can climb really fast, and in general she is very fast, especially for her size - the top of the kitty tree, in the sunny window is her favorite spot- She likes to use scratching posts (carpet, cardboard, and rope are all good)- Not a fan of other animals, and needs to be the only pet in her new home - Young, noisy or busy children are too much for her, so she's looking for a mature home that's calm and predictable- Can get a little spicy and overstimulated if you play too hard with her- Will thrive in a peaceful, quiet home with one or two people who want a fun, delightfully grumpy, casual cat companion to love and care forAll adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 14.3 Age: 1yrs 9mths 4wks

To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---- Very active and playful kitty who will do best in a home where someone will play with her often - Likes playing with all kinds of cat toys, especially wand toys; will play fetch with ball toys!- Friendly and likes a lot of attention, but prefers affection on her terms; will often brush up against your leg or hand- Not a fan of other cats and will be happiest as your one and only; if you do have another cat, a very slow introduction will be necessary to set her up for success- Will occasionally sit in your lap or cuddle with you on the couch or in bed at night - Good at communicating through body language; looking for a cat-savvy home where all family members are mature enough to understand and respect her signals- Doesn't have tolerance for young, noisy or busy children, so she's looking for a calm, predictable home with mature family members- Often rubs or playfully pounces on legs and feet while you are walking, so she likely is not a good fit for a household that includes people with mobility issues - Has a strong preference for wet food, but will nibble on dry food left out in between meals; enjoys the water fountain in her foster home, but also drinks from a bowl- Overall has a quirky personality and it might take a little time for her and her humans to get used to each other, but she is definitely worth it and would make a wonderful addition to the familyThis cat has shown signs of overstimulation while in the shelter. Lots of handling, playing with hands, and excessive petting can cause them to overstimulate, which can result in scratching and/or biting. This cat is looking for experienced cat owners who will watch this cat's body language while interacting to note signs of overstimulation (tail waving, fur rippling, dilated pupils, ears turned back and quick body movements) and be willing to respect their boundaries. This cat will also benefit from interactive toys such as wands and ball spinners while playing. We are happy to speak with you more when you visit and can provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat mental stimulation, patience and space when they need it, please consider adopting! They would love to be your sidekick and buddy for life! All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 9.42 Age: 2yrs 3mths 3wks

To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---- An extremely sweet, lovable cat who welcomes attention- Is very playful and enjoys his cat toys- A serious cuddle buddy and lap cat- Enjoys sleeping with his humans- Has lived with other cats and did well with them- He is very friendly to quiet adult visitors after observing for awhile from afar- Is afraid of the sound of plastic bags or garbage bags- Young, noisy or busy children are too much for him, so he's looking for a mature home that's calm and predictable- Looking for a patient adopter who will give him time to settle into his new home on his terms; he will likely be shy and hide for a few days until he realizes he is safe and loved- Will be a wonderful friend for a calm, patient person who loves the quiet life just like he does- Has lots of love to give once he has settled into his new home and is ready to live the good life he has always deserved- This cat has been diagnosed with diabetes and is currently receiving daily insulin injections and eating a prescription cat food.
