Story
Gus is a cuddler and sweet. He will lay on your lap and purr. We adopted Gus in 2021. He was 11 then. He has had health challenges over the last 24 months. We have had him tested and changed his diet however we still have not been able to resolve his health challenge. We are foster parents with multiple children and have concerns that when he goes the bathroom, it may be messy and get around the house where the children may come in contact with it. Due to those concerns and the fact that he is a senior, we would prefer him to find a better home that is quiet and can best attend to his needs.

Story
Nina is 15 years old. We got her from Indy Humane society in 2015. We are looking for a loving family to take care of her in her golden years. She is quiet and keeps to herself, but if you get on her bad side she can have an attitude.

Story
We need help finding a loving new home for our nine-year-old, front declawed, tortoise cat, Harper. She is extremely loving, has a strong purr, and loves a solid chest nap. However, environmental factors, including us being home so much during Covid, the addition of a dog, baby brother, and a new home, have caused her to choose to potty (poop and pee) outside her litter box. This has been occurring off and on (mostly on) over the course of the last 4 years despite multiple vets and visits, medicines, different litters, behavioral therapy and attempts to make her comfortable in her environment. Sadly, after feeling as if we have tried everything, including the construction of her own private home within our home, we feel the only way she will be perfectly happy is in another home. The vets have advised she is perfectly healthy and that this is behavioral. She is entirely normal and loving apart from her bathroom antics.

Story
Millie is our kitty, she is very sweet but my older dog has really started to pick fights with her (not her fault) and she’s been having to stay in a room to prevent my dog from starting issues. I cannot continue to keep her in a room, that we will be needing to renovate I know she deserves a whole house to roam again and being able to be loved as much as possible! She is very cuddly and sweet, she still has some energy but after a little of playing she will lay down. She has never had issues going potty in her litter box! I do want to charge $65 for rehoming to just make sure she is going to a good home where she will be loved! My husband and I did not want to make this decision but she deserves a FULL life, being able to roam and be happy! SHE does love dogs, cats and kids. Unfortunately my dog is just getting very temperamental with age:( We did reach out to the shelter we got her from last year, they are full.

Story
Meet Dotty! Born to a feral mother, this beautiful girl came into foster care as a shy young lady, but has blossomed into a playful and affectionate companion. She'll delight you with her silly antics! Her playful spirit shines through when chasing any feathered toys or pursuing the elusive laser dot. Want to win her heart? A bag of Temptations treats is your golden ticket to becoming her favorite human! Currently living harmoniously with other cats and a dog, she's earned the title of "Official Welcoming Committee" in her foster home, taking new foster cats under her wing and even grooming the little ones. While she loves her animal companions, she prefers the company of adults and older children who understand and respect her need for personal space – she's not shy about setting boundaries when she feels crowded! Dotty is the perfect blend of independence and affection. She'll greet you at the door with loving rubs and happily curl up in your lap for snuggles, but on her own terms. Being held or carried isn't her style, but she makes up for it by being an excellent companion! While adoption events can be overwhelming for our sweet girl (she's not a fan of cages or crowds), it would be best for Dolly to meet perspective adopters in person in order to get the full picture of just how sweet this beautiful girl is! Ready to give this special girl her forever home? Visit shelbycats.com/adopt to start your adoption journey today!
