Avalon is a gorgeous big boy. He is quite a presence when he walks into the room. Despite his size, he is comfortable just hanging around with other cats. It seems he had some bad experiences with humans when he wa s a little kitten and is very cautious around anyone. With us just placing a cat in an unknown situation quite a few cats get super anxious and decide to hide and observe the new place and family from relative safety. To help the cat accept you and develop a loving bond, you would need to put in some effort, loving care, and patience. We think that Avalon will adjust in 6 to 9 weeks. You would need to keep him in one small room (preferably your bedroom) and spend time just sitting, talking or even singing to him. Anne Rice is a low-key girl that gets along with all cats. She is shy around people but given the fact that she had quite an adventures life, it is not a surprise. Anne was left in the middle of cornfields. As luck would have it, one of our volunteers was visiting relatives and stopped by the side of the road to pluck few beautiful flowers. You can imagine her surprise when she got back into the car to find a kitty all huddled up in her front seat! That was Anne Rice! Anne loves her canned food and her napping place by the window. Bloom is a long thin boy with soulful eyes. His favorite pastime is watching birds but he has playful moments too. Bloom loves boxes and cubby holes or dressers to hide in and take a nap. He had quite an adventure when he was left outside. The experience left him feeling cautious around people. He would prefer to go home with another kitty pal that would help him recover his confidence and trust. Bloom is looking for a foster-to-adopt family that would be willing to work with his shyness and help him get over his frequent kitty colds. The way it works is that you would foster Bloom for a year and during that time we will cover his medical expenses at the Animal clinic we work within Elgin. We know that after a year you will feel like that he is the most precious cat in the world and would not want to let this sweet boy go. At that point, you can adopt him and have him officially join your family.
