Story
Zelda is such a cuddle bug once she warms up to you. She loves sitting in her window hammock and loves her cat bed. She really likes to sit and cuddle on the couch. She will need a well seasoned cat lover since she can be a bit intimidating at first. She would do the best in a home where she is the only animal. She has some litter box issues but I think it is due to our other cats. We took her in for a relative who no longer could care for her and now she needs a good home where is is well cared for and we can still keep in contact with.

Story
Looking for loving home for our cats. Adopted at the same time as kittens. Our schedules are just too busy to give them the necessary attention Tiger - orange cat is shy around little kids and dogs. But not aggressive, but will hide and avoid the situation. Prefers quieter environments and is a lap cat when the house is quiet. Loves to be brushed and petted. Rocky - gray cat is the more dominant cat. Playful and loves to lay in the sun and be at your feet when your working. Does not shy away from dogs. Would likely not do well In a house with other cats as he has a dominant personality. He is not aggressive. Inside cats. Both have been declawed as kittens. We feed them hairball prevention food and that has resolved any hairball issues. Litter box trained. We have 2 in the house and they share.

Story
Bella came to the shelter 270 days ago after she was involved in an animal cruelty case. When she came to the shelter, she had lost her brother tragically and been left outside to fend for herself. At 10 years old, she had been with her buddy her whole life, and her whole world had been turned upside down. She was at that point in shutdown mode.. over the last 270 days, she has made huge strides. She is currently in our biggest luxury kennel where she gets her comfy blanket, bed & daily wet food. However, that doesn't come close to the comforts of a home. Bella needs a calm, laid-back home where she can lounge around as she pleases. She does have pancreatitis, so she is on a daily canned food, but that is pretty inexpensive.

Story
Sassy Sara & Pixel Need a Miracle Their world shattered overnight. Sassy Sara and Pixel, a bonded pair of 14-year-old tortie sisters, lost everything when their beloved owner passed away. Declawed and completely defenseless, they were left with nowhere to go. The only home they had ever known—the only arms that ever held them—was gone. And now, they sit in a shelter, too scared to understand why. These sweet girls are heartbroken and shut down. They don’t know why they’re here. They don’t understand why their owner isn’t coming back for them. They just know they’re afraid. At their age, they should be curled up in a warm lap, not huddled in a kennel, hiding from the world. They need a quiet, loving retirement home where they can feel safe again. It may take time for them to trust, but they will come around. They just need someone patient enough to let them grieve, heal, and love again. Despite their sorrow, they are healthy. We gave them full veterinary workups, and their bloodwork was fantastic. They could have years left to give… years that deserve to be spent in a home, not a shelter. To help them find a home, we have drastically reduced their adoption fees to just $25 each. But these sisters must stay together —they are all each other has left in this world. Please, if you have room in your heart and home for two lost souls who just want to feel safe again, consider giving Sassy Sara and Pixel the love they so desperately need. Whether it’s months or years, they deserve to spend the rest of their lives knowing they are loved. They have already lost their person. Please don’t let them lose their chance at happiness, too.To apply, visit our website at EffinghamCountyHumaneSociety.org/adoptable-pets
