6 year old adult male. Reason for rehoming is due to allergies. Will do better in a single pet home since he loves attention. Big on cuddling.

Story
Daisy (about 9 years old as of March, 2025) is a female black and white shorthaired cat. Daisy was born to a feral mother cat who had literally been dumping her kittens at one of our caretakers' house for years. They finally caught her but she was about to give birth, so these lucky kittens have been inside their whole lives. Daisy is a very vocal kitty who likes to meow about things as she goes through her day and will sometimes call out to figure out where people are if she wanders off alone expecting someone to call back to her or come find her. That sounds awfully needy but she is actually the most independent kitty from her litter. She is sweet and affectionate but doesn't want to cuddle until she is done playing and doesn't feel the need to be on top of someone smothering them every time she gets a few pets. That said, when she is in full cuddle mode she loves serious, firm pets so strong they pull the skin around her eyes back and exaggerate her already naturally silly long skinny face. She is very energetic and alert which can make her seem jumpy or skittish, but it's really just her goofy, playful nature showing. She does well with older kids and mostly gets along okay with most of the other cats in her foster home, but has had conflicts with a few of them and mostly keeps to herself so she might prefer living with only the one cat she always gets along with- her sister Primrose. We're hoping we can find a family willing to take them both, as the last time we tried to separate them they both were miserable. She hasn't ever lived with a dog and with her more sensitive nature and at her age she would probably be overwhelmed

Story
You can hear my meows from far away and with my innocent and adorable looks, I always manage to squeeze some loving even when staff is cleaning. I am not always that innocent though, you just have to keep life interesting, and somehow stand out from the crowd here. So if you have a bed by a large window where I can keep a watchful eye on everything that is happening outside while you are at work, this would be perfect for me.

Story
Mabel is a spayed female brown tabby shorthaired kitten. Mabel and her sisters were born to a feral cat in Winthrop Harbor that we've been trying to trap and spay for over 2 years. Thankfully we finally caught her this time, but her 3 newest daughters were about 10 weeks old and already turning feral. With some intense TLC in a foster home they've made a lot of progress and are now ready to be adopted as pet cats. Mabel was the "leader" of her litter and came around to people the fastest. She's the first one to greet people and the most enthusiastic about getting attention and being held. She's still going to be a little shy with new people but she loves being petted and playing with people. She gets along great with her sister Charlie and would probably do best adopted along with her or as a little sister to another young playful kitty. She has never lived with a dog and because she's a little more shy, we think she'd do best in a cat only household without any especially young children that couldn't give a shy kitty more space and quiet time as she gets used to them.

Story
I've always been a bit of a lone wolf...or should I say, lone cat? I appreciate my own space, a quiet corner to curl up in. Don't get me wrong, I'm not antisocial. I love the company of my fellow felines, but I also value my solitude. My independence might make me seem aloof, but once I warm up to you, you'll find a loyal friend in me. I'm not the type to demand constant attention, but I'll always be there, a steady presence. Why should you adopt me? Well, I'm the perfect companion for someone who values their own space as much as I do. Someone who appreciates the quiet moments as much as the loud ones. With me, you'll have a friend who respects your boundaries, but is always there when you need them. That's the kind of friend I am, and the kind of friend I hope to find in you.

Story
John (~DOB 9/2020, male, black DSH) John was a kitten found in Waukegan behind a nursing home with his siblings. They were being fed a diet that mostly consisted of French fries. They were caught at about 3 months old and took a bit of time to warm up to humans while they also started getting healthier. John and his sister Chrissy were won over with a lot of chicken baby food. John took a little longer than his sister Chrissy to socialize to humans, but now he is doing absolutely wonderful in his foster home. He can even be picked up and held for short periods of time. He is fairly vocal, especially at meal times, and can get a bit sassy then as well. He sometimes nips his foster mom’s leg in passing, but never hard. He has learned to like to be petted on his head and back, even all the way down his tail. But pet him for too long or try to get his belly and he will swat you (claws retracted) like “what do you think you’re doing?!” He sometimes grabs at legs as they pass by, but this seems to be more playful energy. He is also becoming a morning bathroom buddy! He enjoys chasing balls in tracks and cat dancers. He likes climbing cat towers, sleeping on the back of couches, and staring out windows. He sometimes comes when he is called and fingers are rubbed together. He enjoys the company of other cats, and we encourage an adopter who has cats in their home to ease his transition. We do not think he would be good in a loud home or one with young children or dogs. His transition will likely take time, but a good way to earn his trust is with food, especially chicken baby food!
