Story
Geralt (of Rivia) was a failed foster during COVID. We took him in when the shelters were put on lockdown, and fell in love. He is incredibly friendly, and wants nothing more than to lay in your lap and snuggle. He can be quite chatty, but usually because he wants food or love. Super patient with our two very young children and gets along well with our dog. He is FIV+, which means he cannot be around other cats unless they are also FIV+. For this reason, we do not know if he gets along with other cats, but was previously a stray with the scars to prove it so I think he would be very defensive. The primary risk for an FIV+ cat is a condition called stomatosis (inflammation of the gums), but he is safe from this concern as he has had all of his teeth extracted. No meds needed. He can eat kibble still, and we can provide an automatic feeder so that he can have little meals throughout the day. He is litterbox trained. We are rehoming only because we are moving and cannot take him with us.

Story
In early October, I rescued a cat now named Chow here in Chicago. Since then, I've had her vaccinated for rabies, FELV, and FVRC. My initial plan was to have her spayed and rehome her with a friend or family member, but unfortunately, that hasn’t worked out as I had hoped. I have been unable to get a low cost spay appointment despite several attempts over the last 2 months. Her previous owner moved to an apartment that does not allow pets, and allowed her to be outdoor every day. She has been exclusively indoor since I took her in. We estimate Chow to be around one year old. While she is a sweet cat, she hasn’t been getting along with my cat. I’ve managed their interactions so far, but the situation has become increasingly challenging. Surrendering Chow to a shelter would be heartbreaking for me, and I would much prefer for her to be in a foster environment where someone with more experience can help socialize her.
