Story

Our barn cat program is for our cats that take part in the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program but can't be returned to their communities because of danger or lack of care. These are our less social cats that don't crave the company of people, at least at this point in their lives. These cats are peaceful, easy to care for, and make friends easily with other farm animals. Pictured is our lovely Chula who was adopted as a mouser for the family chicken coop. The family followed the relocation instructions and Chula became queen of the land! Like Chula, many families that have adopted a barn cat report that the cats have become friendly over time and bonded with the other animals as well has the people. Most often, the cats are delivered in pairs by our volunteer that settle the cats in and provide instructions for you to follow. All agree that it is very rewarding to give a home and freedom to a less fortunate cat who just by chance was born without a human hand. Story

Calvin and Hobbs are Olives sweet little boys. They are energetic and fun loving. Hobbs has some scarring in his eye from the common virus that most cats get. Some cats react to it more than others, thus the case with Hobbs. The ophthalmologist feels that the eye will heal but leave a little scarring. If he should need surgery when he is older, we would set that up through our vet for you. Right now, he is having a blast. The boys do not have to go together because they are so much alike. Story

Freddie is another sweet rescue from the streets. He had been begging for food in a parking lot is Hartford for quite some time. Surely, he was on his way to becoming a beaten-up, ill tom cat. Luckily, our volunteer kept an eye on him and had an opening to take him home to her clean and safe cozy haven for their rescues. Freddie fits right in with all of their cats and he does well with the dogs too as you can hear in the video. Freddie is getting more confidence and trusting. He even greets guests now. He allows a few pets then scoots off to be with his buddy. He is blossoming and gaining socials skills. He would love a home with other playmates. A really sweet boy! Story

Our dog-cat, Tigger, is ready for his forever home! Tigger was born with his umbilical cords wrapped around his legs. This is a rare occurrence that happens in utero and sometimes the lack of circulation cuts off the leg. Thus was the case with Tigger. Tigger was adopted at 14 weeks old but recently came back to us because of pain associated with his leg and because the other cat in the home never really accepted him. The dogs were his buddies and playmates. He even wags his tail like a dog. Now that he is two years old, we could see the discomfort before the surgery so our wonderful vet recommended leg amputation surgery. Tigger is so much more comfortable and can even move easier. This guy is unstoppable! Tigger has an big personality. He is confident, intelligent and very self-aware. He is friendly, social, outgoing...He's always right there with you and wants to be involved in everything. He loves to cuddle and will give love bites. He's just very expressive. We are hoping for a cat-dad for him but he loves all people. He must be the only cat. He needs no special treatment and he won't have it. He can climb and do stairs. He's has been using three legs his whole life we just had to free him from the fourth. We now need to work on getting his weight down just a bit. Paisley is a stunning, dilute tortie. She is also a polydactyl! Not only is she so beautiful but she also has a beautiful personality. She has gone through a lot. She was very loved by a young man but he could not afford nor was he allowed to have a pet in his apartment. Paisley is very personable, outgoing, loving and affectionate. She wants to be an only kitty because she does not like to share attention. She is a love and will sparkle in your home..
