Story
Age: 6.5 yearsAbout Me: Rusty is an incredibly sweet guy that is reported to do well with other cats. Due to some special needs, he will need to remain as an indoor only cat. Give us a call today at 719-395-2737 to learn more about Rusty! If interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website by following https://www.ark-valley.org/adoption-matchmaker-application/. We recommend calling the shelter at 719-395-2737 after you submit your application to ensure that we have received it. You can also give us a call if you have any questions or would like to learn more about a specific animal. Walk-ins are welcome during our open hours Monday-Saturday 12-5pm, although an adoptable animal may be in a foster home instead of at the shelter, so we also recommend calling us prior to driving to the shelter to confirm the pet`s current location. If you prefer emailing instead, you can reach our staff at to info@ark-valley.org, however, time sensitive matters would be addressed quicker via phone.Note: We do not DNA test our animals to determine breeds. The listed breed(s) are either an educated guess from staff based on physical characteristics, or from information given by their previous home.

Story
Meet Aneecee, a 12yr old senior kitty whose name means “comfort”-a perfect reflection of the emotional support she’s provided my son since we brought her home at 8 weeks old. Her soft weathered fur & wise gentle eyes tell the story of a loyal companion who’s been by our side for years. Shy at first but she warms up to reveal a friendly, talkative personality-especially when mealtime rolls around, her sweet meows filling the air. Aneecee is a steadfast friend, always ready to curl up close & offer quiet reassurance. Now, we are seeking a peaceful retirement home for her golden years, where someone can spoil her with love & care she deserves. She’s a treasure waiting to bring comfort to her next owner.

Story
Pitch is a handsome, smart, fixed, young adult, male cat who needs a home where he can feel secure. He does not spray, comes when you call him, uses the litter box like a gentleman, and is very respectful of my other indoor cat! He doesn’t scratch furniture, (loves his scratch post, though!). and likes to talk to tell you what’s on his mind! He’s a good boy! We believe he was dumped or neglected/abandon since he showed up terrified of humans, (I trapped him to get him fixed, thinking he was feral). He also had abscessed teeth (got removed), and a painful jawbone infection that is now all cleared up. He was very hungry! He now sees that not all humans are bad, and does not want to go back on the streets! Why I cannot keep him is too much to post, but happy to share with an interested adopter. (Basically my other cat is protesting!). Not Pitch’s fault! He will make someone a loyal, enjoyable companion. We saved his life, now he just needs someone to provide him a home.
